Of the many Warhammer art books, this one focuses on the art of Clint Langley. He's Black Library's most prolific artists, responsible for creating the gritty art for the novel covers as well as the collectible card game. The Art of Clint Langley is a 96-page paperback.
The full colour illustrations within tell a story of a battle-torn universe. Each piece is created with painstaking detail, every last button, fringe of braid, battle scarred armour and textured coat. The scenes are intense, depicting never-ending battles. The weapon and armour designs are always elaborate. It certainly looks like every warrior is wearing armour made up of hundreds of parts. Everything's pretty extravagant, nitty gritty extravagant.
Some of the pieces have commentary provided by the authors. Clint Langley also wrote a bit of stuff, such as how he prepares as I've quoted below.
"When I receive a brief, as soon as I read it, I can imagine the image in my head. To a certain extent I'll hear the soundtrack and see the image moving. I'll often stand around and move into poses to put myself in that moment. For instance, as soon as you mention Chaos Space Marine, I'm beginning to see the sky boil and a Khorne Berserker charging over the hill." - Clint Langley
This is a great book for sci-fi, fantasy artists, as well as Warhammer fans.

So, wo fang ich denn am Besten an...?!
Also erstmal muss ich sagen, dass dieses Buch mit seinen fast 100 Seiten qualitativ sehr hochwertig ist!
Und das für ein, meiner Meinung nach, relativ günstiges Artbook.
- Der Einband ist zwar nicht wie ein richtiges massives Buch gebunden, hat dennoch ein dickeres stabiles Cover, das zudem hochglänzend ist.
- In diesem Artbook wird zuerst etwas über Clint Langley berichtet... Ne kleine Zusammenfassung über ihn und über seine hervorragenden Arbeiten.
- ABER: Was doch wohl am spannendsten ist, sind die Bilder in einem Artbook! ^ ^
Diese sind wirklich wahnsinnig gut!!!
Gedruckt sind sie auf dickerem Papier, großflächig über die gesamte Seite.
Die Qualität der Bilder ist wirklich perfekt!
Alles in allem wirklich empfehlenswert, auch für Leute, die sich einfach für Artbooks und Fantasy interessieren (so wie ich), aber natürlich auch oder gerade für Leute die viel von "Warhammer" und dem Drumherrum halten.
Ich würd's auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen .

Fantastic art from the world of Warhammer

This book contains beautiful color reproductions of some of the best, most amazing art by Clint Langley. Combining illustrations from both the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000 game universes, these starkly "realistic" paintings have appeared on book covers and on combat card game (CCG) cards. Including commentary on select pieces of art by some of the authors with whom whose work the paintings are associated, this book will immerse you in the fantastically dark and dangerous worlds of Warhammer while providing some insight into Mr. Langley's creative process. At the current discount here on Amazon of approximately 33% off the list price, this book is a must for all afficianados of great Warhammer related art. There really are some amazing pieces in here, including Harlequin, Chaos Child, the original cover of Storm of Iron, and much, much more. I recommend it!
