Okay, die Story ist altbekannt. Einsame, aber nicht alleinlebende Frau mit Kind, trifft alten Schulfreund wieder und es kommt, wie`s kommen muss. So weit-so gut, aber wie Jennifer Cruise es schafft, dass die gutbürgerliche Ehefrau, ohne gegen die guten Sitten zu verstoßen, ihren Liebhaber am Ende bekommt, ist schon lesenswert. Klar dass dabei einige gutgehütete Wahrheiten ans Licht kommen. Also keine überraschende Story, aber gut verpackt.

This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Cruisie/Crusie. And I can highly recommend it to bookowrms who like their books as an escape hatch from everday life and stress. The charecters are well rounded out and have their foibles and quirks like we all do. The small town setting is vividly portrayed and the secondary charecters are wonderful. They make you laugh and grit your teeth alternatively. I am presently trying to get my hands on as many books by this authour as is possible. One word of advice.... don't read this book on the public transport. The people around you will think you are crazy when you laugh out aloud. I did! And am lucky to be here and not in a straitjacket! Enjoy this wonderful authours sense of humour and sensitivity.

If you're from a small town, you'll recognize and appreciate a lot of real-life humor in Ms. Crusie's delightful novel. Even if you've never traveled far from a major metropolitan area, Maddy is a character worth reading about and her world will entertain you. Treat yourself to this book. It's worth the money and the time invested.
This was actually the first book I'd read by the author. I'm so glad I picked it up. [Admittedly, the feet sticking up out of the convertible on the cover drew my attention at first.] I've since located and enjoyed all of the author's books [through Amazon's Auctions & zShops, since many were hard to find]. If you love cats &/or dogs there's an added bonus in Ms. Crusie's work. She portrays animals in her books with warmth, humor, and individuality that's equal to her enjoyable human characters.

I thought this was going to be a darkly funny novel.
