Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Brendan Hall began sailing at the age of four in his home waters off Brisbane, and was racing by the age of 19. He was 27 years old when the 2009/2010 Clipper Race began, and had to transform a motley crew of 18 amateur sailors into a race-winning sailing machine, as well as battling life-threatening weather conditions, gear failure and rescuing two other yachts in the dangerous North Pacific Ocean. He is currently cruising and racing in the Caribbean.

A thoroughly recommended read 16. Januar 2013

I bought this on the Kindle and put a review there, just replicating it here as no-one else has reviewed this book.

A very interesting and useful book which describes the challenges to the author as the Captain of a yacht in a round-the-world race. It is an exciting tale that begins with Brendon showing his desire to win the race, and to his realisation that victory in this 10-month sailing challenge is dependent more on leadership and man-management skills, than it is on sailing skills.

As part of his commitment to leading his team on this race, he describes how he lays bare his own weaknesses in order to understand, counter and either suppress or improve on these vulnerabilities. Stuck on a yacht, in the middle of nowhere will require a skilful mediator, and by fully understanding a deficiency, only then can one attempt to do something about it.

There are some very useful lessons in `Team Spirit', and I think the vast majority of people will learn at least something from his lessons; however, many people will learn a whole lot more. If you're in the minority who don't, then you still get a rip-roaring read about the highs and lows of sailing, of ocean racing, and the challenge of keeping your team motivated and the boat moving in the right direction.

A great read, and thoroughly recommended.
Great inspiring leader and story teller 18. Juni 2013

I'm not a sailor, but after reading Team Spirit by Brendan Hall I'm looking forward to become one. Brendan tells his story in an inspiring, amusing and thoughtful way. He shares his experiences generously with the reader in a way not many successful people usually do; and it is a great experience. Along the pages I was able to feel all his passion for the sport and his commitment for his team. I surely would be happy to be part of any team that he leads. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that has the responsibility to lead people.

I really enjoyed his storytelling and his reflection on his leadership experience. Prior to purchase I had no idea what a Clipper was!

great story 9. Oktober 2012

This book may be about a great yacht race but it is also a great motivational story about a person who worked very hard to be a fantastic team leader, I could not put the book down! From the very beginning during the months of research that Brendan carried out prior to the race and his attention to detail provided him with a good place to start however what the weather and race conditions threw at him and his crew or crews was still going to challange them. I have been recommending this book to any one who wishes to be a team leader in any organisation to have a read, great book, vivianne
