Kurzbeschreibung

Notting Hill Meets Monarch of the Glen

Fliss Bagshawe longs for a passport out of Pimlico where she works as a holistic therapist. After attending a party in Notting Hill she loses her job and with it her dream of becoming her own boss. When she’s offered the chance to take over a failing therapy centre, she grabs it with both hands. But there's a catch - the centre lies five hundred miles away - in Wester Ross, Scotland.

Fliss’s romantic view of the highlands populated by hunky Men in Kilts is shattered when she has an upclose and very personal encounter with the Laird of Kinloch Mara, Ruairi Urquhart. He’s determined to pull the plug on the business, bring his eccentric family to heel and eject undesirables from his estate - starting with Fliss. Faced with the dole queue once more, Fliss resolves to make sexy, infuriating Ruairi revise his unflattering opinion of her, turn the therapy centre around and sort out the dysfunctional Urquharts.

Will Fliss tame the Monarch of the Glen and find the happiness she deserves?
Read Tall, Dark and Kilted to find out . . .

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

After teaching her 1000th pupil and working as a deputy headteacher in a large primary school, Lizzie decided it was time to leave the chalk face and pursue her first love: writing. She joined the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s New Writers Scheme, honed her craft and wrote Tall, Dark and Kilted. She’s had enormous fun researching men in kilts, falling in love with brooding hero Ruairi Urquhart, and rooting for heroine Fliss Bagshawe - and hopes you will, too. Born in Scotland, Lizzie has always wanted to write a romantic novel set in the Highlands and Islands and with Tall, Dark and Kilted she has done just that. She has a well developed sense of humour and hopes this comes across in her novel. Although much of her time is taken up publicising Tall, Dark and Kilted she has completed her second novel: Boot Camp Bride and has embarked upon a third. Boot Camp Bride has an element of intrigue and suspense and is set in the atmospheric Norfolk marshes where Lizzie has spent much of her time. Lizzie is a founding member of an indie publishing group: The New Romantics 4. Her fellow New Romantics are June Kearns, Mags Cullingford and Adrienne Vaughan. The New Romantics 4’s watch cry is: all for one and one for all. All four New Romantics will be e-publishing their second novels in November 2013 and have organised 'red carpet events' where they will share their experiences as writers and talk about their novels to readers. 5.0 von 5 Sternen A pacy read from a new author 3. Dezember 2012

I enjoyed Tall Dark and Kilted for the characters in it - especially the gorgeous Ruairi - and feisty Fliss who struggles against all odds to make her way in the world. The Scottish scenery was a character in its own right, misty, mystical and mysterious. I liked the way the author wove Scottish history into such a contemporary story and thought the push/pull of sexual attraction between the hero and the heroine definitely sizzled. Tall Dark and Kilted will stay with me for a long time.

This book was full of different things - sadness, happiness and some comic relief. Didn't take long to get thru it. Totally enjoyed it and the description of "Tall, Dark and Kilted" was right on!!

Tall, Dark and Kilted is set in a castle in the Highlands, with a sexy laird, a spit fire heroine and his crazy family. It is a delightful story with all kinds of crazy twists and turns; interference at every turn from the family to add frustration and humor to the range of emotions suffered by the laird. It is a wonderful story of conflict, humor, frustration, plot twist and best of all love. For a first novel it is first rate ~ WOW!

5.0 von 5 Sternen A great fun read! 22. Dezember 2012

I do love to see men in kilts! No matter how skinny their legs and knobbly their knees in "real" life, when under a kilt mens legs take on a new muscular, athletic life. This novel is a little like that :)

Lizzy Lamb has managed to take a traditional romance and invest it with the flavour of Scotland, a country I love. All the usual suspects are there - the badly behaved family, the best hero's best friend, the ex-finance who - fleetingly - appears to try and reclaim what she has discarded and of course, the tall, dark and devastatingly handsome hero. The heroine is feisty but not, as in so many romance novels, so "over-the-top" as to be a pain in the bum. Ms Lamb has had the good sense to make her heroine realise how she has contributed to the drama.

The ending was good and strong and I was smiling when I finished the story and am eager to read the next of Ms Lamb's works.

What greater compliment for an author can that be? :)

5.0 von 5 Sternen Engrossing! When is my flight to Scotland? 16. April 2013

I absolutely loved Lizzie Lamb's "Tall, Dark and Kilted." Great read! It is the British/Scottish version of 50 Shades of Grey but written much better. The main character (Fliss) isn't a pathetic twit and she actually has ambition and intelligence. It is enjoyable to get inside her head during the story and not at all annoying! The characters in this book seem so real and that put me on an emotional roller-coaster with them as I empathized with their situations. Other comments mentioned that they couldn't get into the book but I think the build-up in the story is exactly what kept me up during the wee hours reading, when I really should have been sleeping. The best part of this book is definitely the engaging story with great vocabulary but it is still very easy and enjoyable to read. Can't wait for more from Ms. Lamb! Buy her book now before she becomes too famous and her kindle version is $9.99 instead of $2.99!
