Tags you say? Who EVER knew they could be this cool?!? 6. Januar 2005
Von S. Fishburn - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
Erikia has done it again! Another book with ideas & how-tos which will get those creative wheels turning for scrapbookers & altered artists alike. This volume contains arted up tags to any taste, from simple + elegant to fun + funky, from shabbily chic to totally country.

Some of my fave pages include the ones showcasing glass, mica & polymer tags.

Wait til you see what can be done with modern ephemera & photo negative tags!

Each category - and there are 39 in total - includes the basic idea with variations, a step-by-step how-to photo sidebar, a full page spread & additional samples showing some of those oh-so-clever variations on the theme.

In short, this volume will make an excellent addition to any scrapbooker, paper or mixed media artist's library.

Ecclectic, Busy, Altered Image Type Tags 22. Februar 2006
Von Sunny Skies - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
This book reminded me of some of the Altered images books I have been reading recently. Many of these tags are just full of dimensional add-ons that often seemed "too much." When publishing newletters, one of the things you first learn is not to have 10 different fonts with various styles. It is simplier and more pleasing to the eye to narrow it down to a couple or so. Even though this is a different medium, I felt like this is something that would have been useful in this book. It just seemed like most of the tags and pages had too much "different" stuff going on and my eye could not seem to settle on what was supposed to be the focus of the page/tag.

Don't get me wrong, there were some very nice tags and pages in this book. Like another reviewer, I also liked that it seemed more focused on adult themes. Another thing I liked about this book are the photos of the steps used to create some of these projects, but there almost had to be with soooo much stuff going on. There were a few pet pages, but if you don't have pets, you can easily incorporate them into "people" pages.

Even though I did get some ideas from this book, many were way too "busy" for my taste. I give this book a 3.5 stars. If you like ecclectic, busy, artsy-type tags and pages, this would be a good book. I do think that many of the pages that are too busy might be able to be toned down.

If you like altered images, you will probably love this book. If you are looking for tags with a calmer feel, I would recommend "It's All About Cards and Tags by Nancy Hill.

Erikia comes through again 2. März 2006
Von Adelina Cavanagh - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
Erikia Ghumm is a scrapbooking goddess! Maybe not to everyone, but if you lean a little more toward artistic scrapping, you'll like her books and her look. She really stretches the imagination and uses all sorts of nifty things to create and embellish tags. Some things you may never have heard of before (like cyanotypes) unless you earned an MFA. (Beats me, I was a pysch major and ended up with a MS in science.) But her tags are very hip (not all the tags are hers- she has some other artists working with/for her in this volume). Maybe the tags are TOO hip. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 and not a 5 is that the style is narrow (read "altered" "collage" "shabby chic"). This may (or may not) be a style that extinguishes itself as rapidly as so many other scrapbooking styles do. Time will tell, as this is a new book. Let's see how the book looks in ten years, or in the mercurial world of scrapbooking, two months... just joking..

Great Tags for Couples and Pet Parents 11. Oktober 2005
Von GalaxieBleu - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
If you've ever seen anything about scrapbooking, altered books, and just altered art in general you are aware that they are geared toward those big time into children and family. I was very happy to see an altered art book not drowning in kid related art projects. Finally a book for adults and/or those that prefer their significant others, dogs, cats and friends to kids and babies. This book has tags that are do-able and are quite attractive and sophisticated looking as opposed to juvenile or plain. I've gotten lots of inspiration for my own scrapbook/altered tags and even altered books. I will definitely purchase more books from this author if they continue to be on par with this one.

Make your scrapbook unique with this book! 13. März 2007
Von L. Fraedrich - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Taschenbuch
I've gotten more out of this book than any other scrapbooking book I've ever read. The author has seriously made tags out of everything, I don't think there's anything she hasn't tried. Every time I turned the page there was a new technique I wanted to try for myself. I tend to be more artistic when it comes to scrapbooking, and the author is truly an artist. She isn't afraid to use bright colors or put things together that you wouldn't think went together, and she makes it work! I also like the fact that she uses subjects other than children, since I don't have any kids. Many scrapbooking books revolve around children and the events of growing up, so it's hard for me to find inspiration from them. If you want to try new and unconventional techniques to make your scrapbook unique, you HAVE to get this book.
