Kurzbeschreibung

The best way to rapidly improve your chess game is to study chess tactics.

The best chess tactics to study are the ones that come from real games!

That is exactly what this book contains - 1001 chess tactics all from real games.

No composed problems
No endgame studies
No problems that you have seen before

Nothing but all new, original chess problems from real games, from real players - just like you!

Many collections of chess problems have way too many queen sacrifices, smothered mates and under promotions. These types of problems are fun to solve, but the patterns involved are so rare, that they have very little impact when you play a real chess game.

Most class players are not losing chess games because they missed a brilliant queen sacrifice!

They are losing because they missed a relatively simple and common pattern like a knight fork, or an overloaded piece, or a weak back rank.

If you can learn to easily spot these types of tactical shots, you can win a lot more games!

This book contains hundreds of tactical shots that will put your game on tactical steroids!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Ideal training for class players 14. Oktober 2013
Von stevelehr - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Like the original Tactics Time, valuable tactics practice for club players. Drawn from games of a wide range of player skills. Many refreshing examples of stronger players missing tactical blows, along with lesser players finding strong attacks.

Kindle format works well. I read the book on my PC, not on a Kindle. Problem solutions include link to web site where reader can play over the actual games. Example games can be downloaded in PGN format. I load some of the games in HIARCS for analysis.

Search "tacticstime" to find Tim's web site and sign up for his newsletter to sample the sort of problems in this book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen More Tactically Goodness 20. Dezember 2013
Von Jason Chamberlain - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
As others have noted, this book just continues from the first Tactics Time. Personally, I just can't say enough good things about these problems. No, they are not as rich as seeing a genuis move that Alekhine made in some grandmaster-level match. But that doesn't really matter because that is not the point. The point is to ingrain into patzers like me (and, frankly, most of us) that we should keep looking for tactics all the time.

I have been studying Tim's tactics problems for about a month now and the difference in my play is striking. Previously I would get through the opening and just stare at the board looking for something to do. Now I am actively thinking in terms of how I can create tactical situations to defeat my opponent. Of course, I was always hoping to find something, but I just didn't have the pattern recognition to do much with it. Now I do.

If you're an average player I think you will find that this book and its prequel are ten of the best dollars you will spend to improve your game. Then after studying these you will be ready for the more advanced stuff from authors like Sillman.

5.0 von 5 Sternen If possible, better than the first book. 1. November 2013

Finally. Chess players who want to improve have resources from an adult class chess player who has done just that. Tim Brennan has painstakingly collected real tactics from real games and compiled them in his two kindle books Tactics Time and Tactics Time 2. These are real positions from real amateur games. And unless you are already a very strong player, no doubt they are very much like the positions that have decided your own games innumerable times. Numerous textbooks are out there already that can explain chess tactics, but after you read about pins, double attack, removing the guard, etc, you need to practice. These books are the workbooks that let you take your knowledge out to the proverbial woodshed and turn knowledge into skill. So to all you amateur players out there (like me) trying to improve, put down your opening manuals and middle game strategy books, and pick up a copy of Tactics Time and Tactics TIme 2. My rating on Redhotpawn increased 400 points thanks to studying these books. More importantly, understanding the tactics in these workbooks makes the game more fun.

Unlike de la Maza, who binged on tactics, and won the world open under 2000, and then quit, Tim Brennan is still out there playing and loving the game. With his own tactics study, he has reached USCF expert rating. You (and I) may never make expert or master, but pleasure from the game of chess will increase with increased tactical skill.

These books also take full advantage of kindle format. There is one diagram per page, and the solution is on the next page. This would mean a 2002 page book in print, but is a piece of cake with the kindle. Can't wait for Tactics Time 3!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Wonderful follow-up to Tactics Time. 27. September 2013

I used to read his first book, Tactics Time, every day. Now I read both Tactics Time and Tactics Time 2 every day. If he ever writes Tactics Time 3, I will buy that too.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Much improved from Tactics Time 1 17. Januar 2014

Tactics Time 2 has everything I liked from Tactics Time 1 and much less of what I didn't like.

Typos and duplicate games are nearly gone. In TT1, I started keeping notes near the beginning, there were so many. In TT2, I won't say there are zero, but close enough that it never bothered me.

Missing analysis (interesting lines not acknowledged) are down compared to TT1, as well. But there are still enough to keep an advanced player involved in spotting them.

The book is still pitched at players about 1200-1500, although stronger players may enjoy it too. It's still heavy on the one-mover problems and still heavy on the offense (very few games where the opponent makes an unsound sac and you have to find the one line that survives).

As other reviewers have commented, the format works fine on a (non-Fire) Kindle.

Good job. I'll be buying TT3 as soon as I see it!

Notes on specific games:

(183) 32. ... g5 33. Kg4 saves the bishop. 33. ... Be6 34. Re7

(324) 28. Rxe5 Qf6 29. fxg6 Qg7 almost holds for Black. But then 30. Rxf7. This line beats 28. ... Qd7 by a country mile.

(459) The fork is crap: 23...Qe7+ 24. Kxa4 Qxe5? 25. Qxd7 and White is up. Better is 23...Qe7+ 24. Kxa4 Nc5+ winning the White Queen.

(588) Knight on g4 protected by bishop; not hanging.

(669) Also the beautiful line: 32...Nh3+ 33.Kh1 Nxf2+ 34. Kg1 34.Nh3++ 35. Kh1 Qg1+ 36. Rxg1 Nf2#

(681) 18...Qc3 looks stronger.

(704) 19...Bxb4 20.axb4 Qxb4+ 21.Qd2 Rc1+ 22. Ke2 Qxb5+ 23.Qd3. Black has three pawns for a piece but no clear attack.

(707) 29...e4 Rd4 and it's still a struggle. 29...a3 and the threat of ...Rb8 are stronger.

(719) 38.Rf5+ Ke7 39.Bxa6 and the b-pawn is harmless.

(949) 20.Bf4 Nxf4
