Remember reading this years ago, when it was new or almost new. I was basically into almost anything having to do with robots and outer space, so gobbled up this and many other similar things indiscriminately. The thing that stands out most in my mind as I try recalling everything I read, was how the robot heroes felt useless as they stood around waiting while the scientist worked feverishly to develop a serum to save the life of his son, the best friend (and creator? I forget) of the robots. This stands out because it shows no matter how competent and capable one is (and robots are usually thought of as being far more invulnerable than Humans), there will be things one simply cannot do (Many stories convey the supposed moral that *anything* is possible and can be done if one devotes oneself sufficiently - I think we all know this is often false in real world situations), and times one is forced to deal with irretrievable loss. Luckily, that didn't happen here. The cure was developed in time, and the scientist's son (the robots' friend) saved. But you knew they were all acutely aware of his mortality, and perhaps their own as well, for a time. In all, the story is a fairly typical space opera. Not necessarily bad (neither the story itself, nor space operas as a genre). But not spectacular either. The character development and plot depth are about as much as one can expect from a book of this length aimed mainly at children and pre-teens (i.e. Not exactly high literature), but passable. The dramatic tension as the robots waited, "feeling useless for the first time in their lives," while the scientist labored feverishly to develop the serum to save his son's life, was actually pretty good, and a bit more intense and real-seeming than many other scenes in this story and genre. Reason it has stuck in my mind when I lost the book and haven't seen or read it in so long. In all, Treasure of Andor is about as good as one can expect all things considered (length and target audience being the main things). Worth the listed price and the time to read if you can find it :-)
