Kurzbeschreibung

From the USA Today Best Selling Sweet Home Series, comes Sweet Fall; a tale of heartache, beating the odds and finding strength in the most unlikeliest of places.

We all have secrets.

Secrets well buried.

Until we find the one soul who makes the burden of such secrets just that little bit easier to bear.

Lexington "Lexi" Hart is a senior at the University of Alabama. Surrounded by her best friends, her loving family and having fulfilled her life-long dream of making the Crimson Tide cheer squad, everything is going exactly as she always dreamed it would. But beneath her happy exterior, demons lurk, threatening to jeopardize everything Lexi has worked to achieve.

When events in her life become too much to cope with, Lexi finds herself spiraling down into the realm of her biggest fear. Lexi falls hard, victim once again to the only thing that can destroy her and, on the way, finds herself falling straight into the dangerous tattooed arms of a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Austin Carillo, starting Wide Receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide, must get picked in this year's NFL draft. He needs it. His brothers need it. Most importantly, his mother desperately needs it. Brought up in a world where the poor are forgotten, the sick are left to fend for themselves and no hero miraculously appears to pull you out of hell, Austin had no other choice but to make a living on the wrong side of the law—until football offered Austin the break to get his life back on track.

But when a family tragedy drags him back into the clutches of the gang he believed he had left far behind, Austin finds himself falling. Falling back into criminal ways and falling deep into a suffocating darkness. Until a troubled yet kindred spirit stumbles across his path, where Austin quickly finds he is falling for a young woman—a young woman who might just have the power to save him from his worst enemy: himself.

Can two troubled souls find a lasting peace together? Or will they finally succumb to the demons threatening to destroy them?

New Adult/Contemporary Romance novel—contains adult content, sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 17 and up.

I fell in love with Tillie Cole while reading Sweet Rome - I simply love her writing style. She has a very special way of describing her characters. Sweet Fall was better than what I was expecting and I am really glad it was thtat way! I loved every single one of Tillie's books so far and I dont think that will change anytime soon. Keep on writing the good stuff :)
Sweet Fall is even better than Sweet Rome and I couldn't put the book aside. I can't wait for the next one. My kindle is ready for more Tillie work ;)

Highly recommend reading it if you're not afraid to feel pain, loss and love for fictional characters.

26. August 2014
Von Twin Sisters Rockin' Book Reviews - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

What defines a person? Is it the shape of their body or face? Is it their upbringing? Is it their past? Is it their soul? Author Tillie Cole attempts to answer these questions. From the beginning of the story, the heroine and hero are at odds. He is a former gang member from the wrong side of the tracks. She is the bubbly carefree cheerleader from a secure loving home. They are both students attending the University of Alabama. He is the star wide receiver and she is the best flyer on the cheer squad. The author conveys introspective elements in this book that are soul searching and thought provoking. Society teaches us to strive for the perfect face and body that conforms to its ideal and being different is wrong. The stigma of not having model qualities or the ideal home life, fuels our indifferences and intolerance of others. The author makes this the focal point in her book.

Austin is the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. He has had a rough life but not by choice but through circumstances of his birth. He is gorgeous, covered with tattoos and piercings that he uses to hide his battle scars. Football is his release. He's a great wide receiver and has potential to play professionally. His brother is second in command in his former gang and now his younger brother Levi is being initiated into that world. Austin’s mother is gravely ill and is in the last stage of ALS, a horrific disease that has ravaged her body and caused her great suffering. In order to pay for her medication, the brothers sell drugs. They agree that family is the most important thing and no matter the consequences or the cost their mother will not have to suffer this debilitating disease and unbearable pain without help.

Lexi hides her disorder so well no one recognizes what is happening to her until it is almost too late. She has a problem with her self-image so she starves herself to achieve the perfect "photo-shopped" body her mind demands. Lexi finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time when a drug deal is going down on campus. She is confronted by Austin's older brother and told that she must keep this a secret and if anyone finds out she could end up dead. Slowly, a truce and friendship begins to bloom between Lexi and Austin. As their relationship develops into more both find themselves at odds with the world’s encroaching problems surrounding them. My thoughts were all over and I kept wondering…Will Austin succumb to the demands of his former life? Will Lexi give in to the voices plaguing her? Do they have a future, let alone one together?

Would I recommend this book: Yes. Tillie Cole delivers again an extraordinary book that opens up a world that is often hidden because of the stigmas associated with it. This is a heart wrenching story beautifully written and delivered through this thought provoking book. The depth of the characters’ anguish brings the drama to life while the plot heightens their plight and enables us a glimpse at their suffering and traumatic existence.

Would I recommend this author: Yes. Tillie Cole is on my favorite author list and she once again proves why. Sweet Fall is an intricately woven story using life’s hardships and experiences to engage the reader in an unforgettable read.

Every once in a while a book comes out of the woodwork and completely blows me away. This, Sweet Fall, is that book. I fell in love with these Alabama football players in the first two books in the series. But with this one, I wasn't prepared for the emotional bitchslap it gave me. This book just makes you feel. I had goosebumps, chest pains and my heart broke numerous times while reading this one.

FEELINGS! My God! This book just gave me the feels. It's so poignant and beautifully executed.

The fact that Tillie Cole relates to her character on such a personal level is what really drives this book home. When you pick this one up please be sure to read the foreword that she's included in the beginning of this book. I highly commend her for writing such a deeply personal subject, I don't think this book would have had the same effect had she not struggled with this herself.

This is an absolutely gorgeous read, and yes, it's a bit of an ugly cry one.

This is by far one of the best books of 2014 hands down!! Tillie Cole what an AMAZING story you have provided us with. It is so real that I felt I was there experiencing it with Austin & Lexi. I will try not to give too much because I want you to enjoy this Emotionally Heartwarming Beautiful Story that will stay with you for a long time to come.

I loved how Austin & Lexi's friendship turns into something more and I will say, it becomes so powerfully strong that no magnetic field could separate it. There is plenty of action, drama, love, passion, loyalty and redemption that has you rooting for Austin & Lexi. I hated when it ended because I'm greedy and I just wanted to continue to read more about Austin & Lexi's future.

I cannot recommend this book enough!! When you get started make sure nothing gets in your way as you will not want to put this book down. You will have to know what happens next. This story will stay with you for a long time to come and I know without a doubt that I will be re-reading it many times to come. Bravo Tillie Cole for such a Real Story that many of us have lived or know of someone that has lived it and survived. Cannot wait for what else you have in store for us.

I'm not usually the type of person that likes to read an ugly cry book, but I loved this series so much there was no way I was going to skip it.

Tillie, you totally threw me for a loop. You fall in love with these two as well as Levi and Austin's mother very early. That right there told me I was in for an ugly cry.

The story line is very real. It's one of those books that you read slowly, put down to take breaks to absorb but can't stay gone for long. You will laugh and you will cry.... a lot. Your heart breaks for each one of these characters, for everything they have to endure.

I also want to thank Tillie Cole for putting this book and her personal experiences out there for all of us. She is an amazing author and this could not have been easy for her.... I can't think of any way to put it other than just saying thank you. You are an inspiration and I feel that putting yourself out there like this will help others in the same situation.

I give this book 5 emotionally gut wrenching yet Sweet and amazing stars. Congrats on an amazing series and I will be first in line for the next one.

I would like to start off by saying fenomenale Tillie Cole! I am in complete awe of you and your strength. I thank you for sharing yourself and making this story something so, so special.

Already being a fan of Tillie’s Sweet Series I was worried when I heard that Sweet Fall would be dark and gritty. Can I tell you, I had no reason to be! Tillie had said SF would be an emotional rollercoaster, how emotionally draining this book was for her to write but before reading the foreword I had no idea!!! I knew from that point this journey she was about to take me on was one I have never experienced.

Every day is a struggle in the life of Lexington Hart. Lexi has a very big, very dangerous secret; one she fight’s daily to keep hidden from her friends, from the world. Putting all her hard work, all her rehabilitation to the test Lexi puts herself back out there and joins the Crimson Tide Cheer Squad – her passion, the thing she loved most; but it’s also the thing that tests her strengths, her ability to prevent the voice from taking control. Throw in a troubled tattooed bad boy with his own secrets and his own struggles into the mix and you have one heartbreaking love story. Austin Carillo has a reputation; he an Italian, tattooed, bad boy with a rough past and is the wide receiver for the Crimson Tide. Trying to put his gang affiliation behind him and make the NFL, trying to make something of himself to get his famiglia out of living in the hell they call life and he will do whatever it takes to make sure this happens.
His brothers start dealing drugs on campus and jeopardise everything he’s worked so hard for. Austin’s mother is extremely ill and they cannot afford her medication, so they make their money and look after each other the way they know how and this has Austin torn. When Lexi witnesses a drug deal going down at the school Austin is determined to protect his family, to protect his future and he needs to make sure she stays quiet. What he doesn’t know is she is as broken as he is. Fate steps in and Austin finds Lexi tends to always show up when he needs it.

“We all have secrets, Austin. Some peoples are bigger than others, that’s all. Wouldn’t you agree?”

These two troubled souls are brought together by fate, finding themselves in the right or wrong place at the right time when the other needs it most even if they don’t realise it at first. Lexi and Austin made each other strong; they made each other want to be better, do better. They were each other’s salvation.
“Why the war paint, Pix?”
“Because I can’t stand the girl underneath,” she whispered

“Why the tattoos?” Lexi asked
“Because I can’t bear seeing the scars of my past.”

Sweet Fall proved to me that you can’t judge a book by its cover. A guy with tattoos and piercings from the wrong side of the tracks, or a preppy cheerleader who is always wearing a perfect smile, no matter how good or bad one my seem you never truly know a person or the inner demons they are struggling to fight on a daily basis.
Another must read by Tillie Cole. <3

5.0 von 5 Sternen Emoitonal read about love, heartache and sickness 27. August 2014

Where to start with this book.....

Its emotional from the very beginning. You meet broken Lexi that hides from her friends trying to turn off the voice in her head and then you meet Austin Carrillo who is doing everything to make it.

The unlikely pair on the outside world but there secrets they hide behind are what unite them. I love Tillie dual POV we get Lexi broken heart and body while at the same time you want to hug her you want to shake her by her shoulders to get her to understand she is beautiful and normal.

Then you meet Austin who has everything going for him awesome talent, awesome friends and a chance to make it beyond school. But his past is more now his present then ever when balancing his future while trying to take car of his family without hurting anyone in the process.

"Buona note, e dormi bene, mia cara. Goodnight and sleep wall my darling. The Words my mama whispered to me every night at bedtime since I was born. The words that took away my fears, blocked out all the badness in the world."- Austin

But both Lexi and Austin past catch up to them and there not much they can do to hold the lies and secrets at bay but comfort each other knowing they can confide in each other. To one another they just seem Lexi or Austin they don't see all the stuff that happens around them. There no mask, no war paint just each other.

" Austin was bringing color into my gray scale life." Lexi

As Lexi the voice is louder by the day and Austin home life is progressing south there not much they can do but live the life's they have. Both try to strive for more with each other but can that be enough.

Tillie made me Cry, laugh and feel deeply for both Lexi and Austin you cant not love it. The way Tillie writes you feel every tear, every breath and every step these two make. As tilie states in the beginning of this book this is a very personal and touching story to here. Tillie gives the disorder as she calls it a voice and gives inside sight of what Lexi feels. We hear Lexi fight the voice until she cant. We see Austin dreams for a better future not only for himself for his brothers for the dream his mother has for him. But you see that dream almost fade as fast as his mother is fading.

Review originally posted at The Book Enthusiast: http://thebookenthusiast.net/sweet-fall-by-tillie-cole-review.

Sweet Fall is the third book in Tillie Cole's Sweet Home series, but it can be read as a standalone. This is the story of Lexi Hart and Austin Carillo, two University of Alabama students. Lexi appears to be a happy-go-lucky girl who has it all, but beneath the surface she is carrying a secret that could destroy her. As life begins to tear her down, she reaches out for the only thing she thinks can help her cope, putting her on a very dangerous path. Austin is a star football player and former gang member desperately trying to help his family by getting picked in the NFL Draft. Despite his best efforts, he finds himself being drawn back into the lifestyle that he thought he had escaped. As Lexi and Austin both begin falling into the unknown, will their unlikely bond be enough to help them conquer their demons and reclaim their lives?

This was an incredibly emotional book for me. Lexi broke my heart. It was so difficult seeing what she thought about herself. Her self-hatred and perception of how other people saw her were devastating. It was sad how skilled she was at hiding her pain from her friends. Being in her head was almost too much, but at the same time it really helped me to see what people who share Lexi's affliction go through. Hiding behind her dyed hair and heavy make-up, deep down she was a frightened, broken girl. She had such a tender heart, though, and her empathy and kindness for Austin and his family were beautiful. Lexi was a remarkably strong woman who really did fight hard to overcome her immense struggles. Unfortunately, sometimes you simply can't do it all by yourself.

I admired Austin's fierce determination to protect his family, especially his little brother. He tried the best he could to keep his college and football life, which could greatly help his mother and brother, separate from the world of gangs and drugs he used to inhabit. I truly believed that he wanted to build a better life for himself and his family, but sometimes it becomes too hard to escape the past. Despite his tough exterior, it was so easy to fall in love with Austin. Family meant everything to him. The scenes between he and his mother just broke me. He saw Lexi's beauty, both inside and outside, when she couldn't see it herself. Also, he was incredibly selfless in wanting the best for her, even if it wasn't what she needed. His heart was definitely in the right place, but what he didn't understand was how much he meant to her. She found comfort and hope in their shared brokenness, as did he.

For me this was Cole's best work to date. The emotions from both Lexi and Austin were real and raw. I liked the slow burn of their relationship. It took them quite a while to trust one another, but when they did it was even more special. They were so different and yet similar. Neither was perfect, but somehow they were just what the other needed. I was blown away by their intense and poignant journey. Sweet Fall was an incredible mix of beauty and pain that deeply affected me. It made me ache, cry, and hope. This was not an easy book to read, but it is certainly one that I would highly recommend. Lexi and Austin's story has definitely left a permanent imprint on my heart.
