In this Jimi Hendrix studio box set you will find recordings from a variety of sources: acetates, home recordings, demos, studio jams, alternate mixes and embryonic versions of familiar songs. It is not the purpose of this release to eclipse the three classic albums released in his lifetime but to enhance them. Just as musicologists of our time scrutinise the notebooks and discarded and unfinished works of Mozart, Beethoven and other great composers of the last two centuries to glean insights into their creative minds, so too will musicologists in the late 21st or 22nd century examine the works of one of the most gifted, innovative and influential musicians of the late 20th century.
