Street Sketchbook takes a peek into the creative minds of over 60 street artists. These are not the street art you see on the walls, these are their doobles and ideas.

Each artist has a short introduction where they talk about their inspiration, how they started out and why they create art. With 60 artists, there are some pretty interesting stories, like how Elph wanted to be a bank robber in 1989 but took up graffiti instead.

On the scanned pages, we have pencil sketches, ink, highlighters, watercolour, collage. Additionally, there are also a couple of photos of the graffiti wall art. Anything goes in this book.

It's a great sketchbook for anyone looking for a bit of inspiration.

Invigorating and inspiring 20. August 2008

Highly recommended to anyone who wants to see the sketchbook roots of some of the most robustly energetic public art around. If you've ever been excited by any artist's sketchbook - from Leonardo to R. Crumb -- this belongs in your collection. The format is nice too: The book's blunted page corners and cover invites browsing and leaving it laying around for friends, like a children's book for adults. (As an aside, I really wish the guy who didn't get his copy delivered hadn't given the book such a low rating. It has unfairly skewed the rating of this gem down, and it's a solid five if there ever was one.)

An all-good look at art worthy of your attention.

Great insight into modern art cultures 12. März 2008

There are dozens of interesting and brilliant artists in this book and the author does a terrific job of picking out shots that illustrate their processes and style. I'd recommend this book strongly because of the rarity of the pictures taken directly from artist's most personal and raw medium.
Volume of Art Well Worth it's Weight 5. Januar 2011
Von R. Straw - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
This proves that there is street art beyond Keith Haring and also beyond the New York City murals, and those throughout the United States.

I bought a digital tablet, and had no idea why, or what I wanted to draw, but felt the urge. I am a fan of Keith Haring, Robert Crumb and other artists. This book feeds my want to view all kinds of sketch books and street art. It's inspiring. It's filled with ideas. It's a heavy book, placed with heavy weighted pages, and on every page is the art of the likes of 45rpm, Amose 22, Will Barras, Bfree, Blu, AJ Purdy, and 27 other indoor artists. The second half are outside artists: Banksy, Dem, Dreph, Escif, Hello Monsters, Kryot and 20 others.

This book is a glimpse into their personal sketch books, whether it's notebook paper, sketchbook paper, or buildings. It's not meant to make them famous, it's meant as inspiration. Glancing through this book and one notices the talent that exists in what is termed as graffiti, and hated by a few people when it defaces. But loved by others when it's purposeful.

Each artist has a bio about their drawing career, and atleast 3 pages of their work. The book is full color, and the pictures pop out at you page after page. You can look at this book several times, and still go through it and see things you never saw before. It is well worth the money. I am so glad to have gotten it. Still can't believe the volume of art inside the Street Sketch Book.

This book is incredibly inspiring from the unique hard bound shell to the well organized innards! What a wonderful collection of artists that give credit where credit is due concerning street art. Their talent shines in the pages! Even from an artistic background, one would be overwhelmed by the beauty of the work. Well worth the purchase and a great gift!
