This is Udon's translation for the Japanese artbook (ISBN 4862333443) that came out in April 2012. The video game came out in March 2012.

For some reasons, the Japanese artbook reviews were not very favourable.

The character illustrations are mainly by Kazuma Teshigawa from Polygon Pictures. Only a handful of artwork are from old time Street Fighter artists like Akiman or Kinu Nishimura. The style is different. Kazuma Teshigawa likes to mix his illustrations with some sort of 3D water effects which looks a bit weird.

42 characters are featured in the book, not including the 12 extra ones from the downloadable content. Those video game companies like to release extra characters after the game hits retail shelves. As a result, artbooks are unable to feature the whole cast, especially for Street Fighter.

I've not played Tekken before so some of their characters look a bit unusual to me. There's Kuma the bear, King with the leopard head, the non-human boss Ogre, Pac-man and Mega Man who's some cheap looking middle age guy in costume.

There's a section on character splash art, and another on the character designs. The latter has many weird costume swaps for the characters. It's the fat-Rufus-in-angel-costume-with-fluffy-wings-and-halo kind of weird. The 3D character models are great but printed too small. It comes with the character profile and interesting commentary from the staff.

Other art included are screenshots of trailers and endings. The art for stages are again printed too small.

There are four interviews with the staff. The first is with Polygon Pictures that talks about the game's visual design, such as the use of water over the sumi ink style from Street Fighter IV.

Tolle Artworks, nicht nur wenn man Fan von Tekken oder Streetfighter ist, man kann sich die Bilder nicht oft genug angucken

There are four interviews with the staff. The first is with Polygon Pictures that talks about the game's visual design, such as the use of water over the sumi ink style from Street Fighter IV. The second interview is with DIMPS who are in charge of character modeling and the game mechanics. The third is from Akiman and fourth from the Tekken team.

The characters are alright but the art direction of the game feels different compared to Street Fighter IV.

Recommended more to fans of the game.

For under 25 bucks...great buy! 22. Juli 2013

My boyfriend loved the art book I got for him, it has a lot of content and for under 25 bucks I couldn't be happier.
All in color and new art from sfxtekken which I had not seen elsewhere eventhough I own many SF/Capcom/Tekken art books.
It was nice since I get upset that many art books reuse the same art over and over, and many times I feel like I'm paying for something I already own.

The only thing I would have preferred is a hard cover instead of soft cover, but maybe they have that too.

Cool book, but not as good as past artbooks. 16. September 2012

The book is nicely binded and beautiful.

That being said, the majority of it is game endings and miscellanous infomation of the game. NOT the collection of artwork I was hoping for.

Not too bad, just not really an "Artbook". More like a "Making of" book.
Hits all the bases 11. Januar 2014

There are a few reviews on here that are quite critical of this book and I am here to sing its praises. I think some people lose sight of the product itself and bring other factors into their reviews. I will agree that the book is a bit small, (only 192 pages) but we know that going in and since it's essentially ten dollars off here on Amazon, I don't see that being a problem.
There are few art books out there that hit all my criteria for being a great art book. I need splash/promotional art, design commentary, interviews, art of all characters/enemies and a it's real bonus is if actual character/story information and CG models from the game are included.
This book has all that.
It starts with some great splash art from greats like Kinu Nishimura and Akiman as well as some others. Then it goes to the promo art for each character, a page a piece so that can be enjoyed in all their glory. All these pieces are accompanied by design insight commentary.
Next is a chapter that examines each of the game's 6 trailers. Then the book covers each character duo introduction and ending as well as the game's various stages. The screenshots for this section are miniscule, but there is lots of commentary and It's always nice to have something to read.
After that, we get a section showing each character in a two page spread. One page shows the characters in-game model (great for artists who want to draw these characters) as well as a blurb about the character's background and motives. The rest of the space is devoted to concept art of various costume swaps, used and unused.
Finally there are a few interviews with the various artists who worked on the game. One of these is with Akiman, who has some real interesting stuff to say about the early days of Street Fighter design.
That's what's in this book and I really enjoyed it. If you're looking for something more or the few negatives I mentioned (small screenshots, book length) turn you off, then steer clear, but otherwise grab this gem.
For Street Fighter X Tekken fans... 31. Januar 2014

Some people collect stamps, coins, baseball cards or comic books. I don't do that. Instead, I collect all the best art books. I'm happy to have this in my collection but I have to be honest. This really isn't the best Udon art book. In my opinion, about one forth the book is great and the rest is just garbage. The beginning of the book is definitely Udon quality art and the rest is just forgettable low resolution art. I'm still going to give this 5 stars because I'm sure fans of Street Fighter X Tekken will enjoy most of this book.

I also own almost all the other Udon Entertainment art books and I would like to take the time to recommend them all. In my opinion Udon is just the best of the best. I don't work for them. I don't get paid by them. I'm just a fan of their art books.
