Kurzbeschreibung

24. Mai 2004
Punished for his maverick ways, FBI agent Mark Beamon has been exiled from Washington, D.C., to a sleepy Southwest office where he's got one last chance to play by the rules. But that's not going to happen, not when he's on a case that may be too hot even for his unorthodox talents to handle. A local millionaire and his wife are brutally murdered. Jennifer, their teenage child and sole heir, is the prime suspect - and she's gone missing. Laying everything on the line, Beamon sets off on a trail that takes him from a remote survivalist's cabin in the Utah mountains, through the labyrinthine headquarters of a cultlike church, into the shadowy, interlocking boardrooms of a powerful high-tech communications empire. Just when he thinks he's close to finding answers, Beamon discovers the killing of Jennifer's parents is far more sinister than even he could have guessed. Now he isn't just looking for a young girl - he's got to stop a bizarre conspiracy that could bring America to its knees ...

Exiled in a Flagstaff field office after ruffling FBI feathers in Washington, special agent Mark Beamon investigates a double murder and kidnapping and finds that all clues lead to a cult-like church that has friends in high places--including the FBI. Beamon's career is on the line, as is a teenage girl's life, but wherever he goes, the Church of the Evolution mysteriously manages to get there just ahead of him.

Storming is sprinkled with a likeable cast of characters, including a retired wireman for the FBI, a weird ex-Church member who's more than eager to divulge its secrets, and a pretty psychiatrist who inspires Beamon to pump iron, lay off booze and cigarettes, and attempt to clean up his act. But his quick mind and faster mouth get him into plenty of trouble in his efforts to solve this smart, fast suspense thriller.

Stage and screen actor Joe Grifasi (Natural Born Killers, Presumed Innocent) narrates this author-approved abridgment with enough smooth malice to suit the swift pace of the novel. 4.0 von 5 Sternen Mills is a writer who shows promise 13. Juni 2000
Format:Taschenbuch
Compelling thriller which takes us into the mysterious world of cults and the good and evil forces that underlie their success. FBI agent Mark Beamon is not your typical action book hero. He's an overweight, beer drinking, unlucky in love man who happens to be an extraordinary investigator with an unselfish drive to solve crimes and seek justice. His no-nonsense ways and refusal to play by the rules causes him to catch a lot of heat from his superiors. However, Beamon realizes that he is racing the clock to find a missing teenager girl whose parents were brutally executed and who may be facing the same fate herself. With little to gain and much to lose, Beamon takes off on a hunt that leaves the bodies piling up and his own life hanging by a thread.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Read it in a day! 17. Mai 2000
Format:Taschenbuch
Beamon is all too human and vulnerable in this tale of kidnapping, good old boys and religious fanatics. I was snared into the story on page three and kept reading until I finished. I really cared about the characters and wanted vengeance on the bad guy, so to speak. I will definitely read his other books.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Compelling! 30. April 2000

This is one of the best books I've ever read. I couldn't put it down and finished in one day. Mr Mills definitely goes on my "favorite authors" list. He is one heck of a writer. I read his other novel "Rising Phoenix" which was also good, but not as good as "Storming Heaven". Get comfortable before you start reading "Storming Heaven", and be warned, you will not be able to put it down. I just loved all the good guys. They all contributed to a wonderful story. Mark Beamon is now another one of my fictional heroes. I can't wait to read "Free Fall". Keep up the good writing Mr Mills.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Exciting adventure! 18. April 2000
Von Victoria
Format:Taschenbuch
Storming Heaven was a wonderful ride through a murder case that involved a, hopefully, imaginary religious organization's quest for power. I couldn't put down the book except for when I had to take a break from the suspense and non-stop action. I strongly recommend this book...the twists and turns will definitely keep you glued to the pages.

Very good book. Kept me up reading practically all night. Characterizations were excellent. The story was totally believable with only small exceptions. This was my first Kyle Mills novel, but I plan to read them all now.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Disappointed 11. März 2000
Von Kristy
Format:Taschenbuch
I really thought that this book was going to be great, but in actuality it's a mediocre piece of fiction. You have to give the author some credit for the plot, but I found this novel incredibly hard to finish due to the fact that it wasn't interesting. Save your time and your money by avoiding this book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Gripping; page turner 9. März 2000

From the moment I picked this book I up I was gripped! I was able to relate to the charaters because they seemed like real people. Kyle Mills is an excelent up and coming writer that I am sure I will continue to enjoy.
