Lackey's twenty-first romance about the realm of Valdemar and its neighbors concludes the trilogy begun by Storm Warning (1994) and continued by Storm Rising (1995). The ravages of magical weather on Valdemar spur former enemies into a weird alliance to seek a solution. The search entails a quest to a place called Urtho's Tower. Urtho, long dead, was a mage who, facing a cataclysm of biblical proportions, played a role analogous to Noah's and saved a great many creatures to repopulate the world. Finding whether some of his secrets remain behind him in his tower produces all the action, spectacle, intrigue, and pathos one could request, plus the tying up of many loose ends and hints of future tales about poststorm Valdemar. Lackey is immensely popular, even when she does not write as well as she does here. Although this book is not exactly the place to begin reading Valdemar, fans will stampede the shelves for it. Dies ist das letzte Buch der Trilogy und genauso gut wie die 2 Vorgänger.
Gut und flüssig geschrieben, eine interessante Geschichte, mal nicht die üblichen Fantasy Geschichten.
Mann sollte nur gewarnt sein, es geht in diesen Büchern eher ruhig zu, keine zu große Spannung, aber man bleibt dabei, weil man wissen möcht, was den nun rauskommt. : )
Lesenswert für Menschen, sie nicht dauernd von riesigen Schlachten und Ungeheuern lesen möchten.

"Storm Breaking" is the final volume of M. Lackeys latest trilogy from Valdemar. Although it containes as much magic and adventure as to be expected by one of my favourite authors, it seemed not to be quite as thrilling as some of her other novels. Especially the "Magic"-trilogy about Herald-Mage Vanyel was more convincing in the protagonists and their problems. I would still recommened this book to all of M. Lackeys many fans, for it neatly resolves the conflicts build up in the previous volumes. It certainly offers some hours of enjoyable reading time.

I would agree with the general consensus that this series is not as good as Misty's usual fare. However, there are a lot of interesting characters and the Grand Duke Tremaine is one of the greatest. He is the guy you can't really love or hate. For those of you who thought Misty couldn't write anything but a major villain or a great hero READ these books.

predictable and drawn out

mesmerizing and an excellent ending!

Beautiful written
This book, though great, was written in a more technical style. Which made it all the more believable. I thought this book greatly written just like all the other Valdemaran books.

Excellent
I found this story by Mercedes Lackey gripping and fun to read. All of the characters are likeable, though Firesong was pretty annoying at times. I loved it.

A great book
This book kept my attention all the way through. Karal was a very likeable character, Firesong was amusing and An'desha was pitiable. I recommend it.....
