Steve Cotter has done it again! The new Complete Guide to Kettlebell Lifting will do for Kettlebell books what his amazing Encyclopedia of Kettlebell Lifting did for Kettlebell DVDs. This book is packed with all of the top lifts in full color detail showing not only the lifts themselves, but important tips and mistakes that many lifters make. Following "Shihan" tradition of making the very best extreme fitness products, this fantastic book took over one year to complete. With 250 pages of techniques (not advertisements), this full color glossy book will become your perfect reference guide. The Complete guide is broken up into 10 full chapters covering the full range of Kettlebell lifts from upper and lower body, core and abs and many more. Both single and double Kettlebell lifts are covered in this amazing brand new book.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Lifts, lifts, and more lifts 17. Oktober 2011
Von Peter Tsang - Veröffentlicht auf
"Steve Cotter: The Complete Guide To Kettlebell Lifting" is a visual or pictorial guide to 191 kettlebell exercises and related techniques. Each move is well illustrated with fairly large sized color photos of Mr. Cotter, with step by step written descriptions on how to perform each move. There are little tips on correct form and procedure and suggestions on avoiding improper form.

This large sized book also comes with a DVD which shows Mr. Cotter performing all of the 191 exercises. The DVD only shows the moves; there is no verbal instruction on the DVD. You hear the clanking of the bells, but no words from Mr. Cotter.

The book divides the exercises into 10 chapters.

Chapter 1: Preparatory lifts
Chapter 2: Core lifts
Chapter 3: Upper body lifts
Chapter 4: Lower Body lifts
Chapter 5: Abdominal/Core
Chapter 6: Supplemental lifts
Chapter 7: Grip exercises
Chapter 8: Advanced lifts
Chapter 9: Explosive powerlifts
Chapter 10: Kettlebell juggling

Here are just a few of the 191 exercises to give you a sampling.

Around the body pass
Two arm swing
Crush curl
Deck squat
Hack squat
Thumb snatch
Anchored clean
Bear crawls-forward
Single leg rows
Jump shrugs
Hot potato

You may need prior knowledge of Kettlebell moves and safety. I consider this book a pictorial reference work of lifts and other related Kettlebell moves.

This book is a comprehensive introduction to kettlebell lifting. It is well illustrated, though, I think I would like more about the biological consequence of these movements. What muscles, or muscle groups do the exercises hit. But if you have a little experience lifting weights generally, this book is a great way to introduce kettlebells into one's workouts.

Well.... its a very good Guide. If you are new on KB i recomend you this books in this order: 1st. Enter the kettlebel of Pavel, its a lil more technical about the basics... then you buy this one. Very good buy, good pics and a lot of good stuff to do. Bye.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Perhaps I had my expectations too high. This is a technique repository and little more, but it is valuable. I have the kindle edition.

-Great color photos, good size and helpful angles. Wish other exercise books were this topnotch in this department.
-easy to use layout. Again wish others were like this.
-step by step layout of each technique
-lots of exercises, a few which I have never seen, a few I will probably never try
- basic technique tips on each exercise, does have some nice cues and tips sprinkled throughout
-warmup and mobility drills are good and often lacking from other books

-Personally I found the book a bit sparse on technique. I was hoping to gain some insight into IKFF style kb lifting, but didn't really see anything to differentiate it from RKC or SFG styles as a fitness enthusiast. I'm not an instructor or affiliated with any group yet.
-many of the 190+ techniques are just the 1 vs 2 arm version of the same drill with the same pictures and cues, just now he is holding 2 bells. Hardly any tips on differences between the two. Seems like a lot of extra space without realling adding anything useful that couldn't have been handled with "Hey you can also do the same thing with two bells." But if you really want to see it you can so your preference.
- Pay close attention to the pictures. Sometimes things like handle position or bell position at the start are not mentioned. So study the pictures carefully. The core lift section does include more detail than some of the other sections.
- no programming
-no explanation of breathing, which is key to many lifts.

Conclusion. The quality is very high layout and photography wise. Bit sparse on technique details and no programming. So I wouldn't call it a complete guide, but if you already have a handle on programming, breathing then this is a good resource for exercises to experiment with. I have not had the chance to get any of his dvds yet, but expect more of the technique details to be found there so maybe he didn't bother to include as much in this book. That being said this is not the book I would recommend for a beginner starting with kettlebells wait a bit then get it if you feel the need.
