I must admit, I had become fairly jaded of late what with the amount of people seeking to cash in on the next big thing that is Steampunk. Seems like everyone from clothing retailers to scrapbookers are gluing some cogs on and looking to make a quick buck. Thank goodness Strongman's Steampunk: The Art of Victorian Futurism is light on cogs and heavy with truly fascinating and inspirational art work sourced from all over the world. For the paltry money you'll spend, you get a beautifully presented hard cover art book. The attention to detail right down to the moire effect cloth binding through to the beautifully produced images within make it the perfect gift for everyone from the die hard Steampunk addict to the punter with a passing interest. It covers beautiful illustrations and photographs right through to mind boggling gadgets and amazing wearable art.
The book is packed with information about not only the rise of the genre but in-depth profiles on each of the featured artists.
Definitely one for the Christmas gift list. It is truly the best and most well put together Steampunk resource I've come across.
