For over 5 years, over 50 issues, over 1000 pages of story, John Ostrander and Jan Duursema have told the story of Cade Skywalker, drug-addicted bounty hunter and borderline fallen Jedi as he struggled with the Sith Empire and his own inner demons. This book finishes the story! The Alliance, the Empire and Jedi have united against the Sith for a final battle. Heroes and villains fall and the galaxy is changed forever (or at least until the next galaxy-changing storyline).
If you liked the earlier books, you'll like this one. I actually liked it more than the last few which felt like they were treading water and repeating the same threads again and again.
It does feel a bit rushed, and yeah, Ostrander leaves room for a sequel, but it's a pretty satisfying end to a good series.
Duursema's art is as good as ever, he does everyone from aliens and starships to facial expressions and sword fights with equal skill.
There were rumors that Lucasfilm was unhappy with this future and ordered the story ended, if so I'm glad that they were able to give it a satisfying wrap up.
