It is a time of great turmoil. The oppressive Empire is close to seizing complete control of the galaxy. And so she agrees to help Rebel spy Finn Darktrin in his quest to recover the crucial Holocron. Despite help from Han, Luke, and Leia, the mission is fraught with peril. But I was disappointed. The characters are unrealistic, Darth Vader is portrayed out of character f.e. The story lacks suspension in a certain way: you keep on reading cos you think it might improve, the hero (a female scientist) is just undergoing a time of self-reflection. But that's happening over and over...
It's always the same pattern, the important spots are filled with insights from her point of view in a way that you might think Deanna Troi from Star Trek TNG tried to write a book ("I feel that..." ... "I think that he feels that... " ... where do I stand in life?). That's quite irritating, not because I'm chauvinistic or don't like women in general, because you'll get the impression that the women in this book have to prove how tough they are, that they are at least equal to men.
The title Ruins Of Dantooine is misleading... it let's you expect a exciting story but instead you find yourself reading a woman's diary, with a Star Wars storyline functioning as a shell to hold the whole thing together.
This book strongly reminded me of The New Rebellion by K. Rush. Again a good story poorly told and I completely agree with the review titled "Worst Star Wars book I have ever read!".
Grab Rogue Planet instead, especially if you've read the NJO series - you'll like the references/allusions being made there.
Es handelt sich dabei leider nur um ein einfaches Buch zum Spiel, doch es biete solide Unterhaltung für ein paar Stunden. Es ist zwar kein Pflichtkauf, doch es kann durchaus empfohlen werden. Spieler werden wahrscheinlich größeres Verständnis für die vorkommenden Orte und Personen aufbringen können, die zuweilen etwas verwirrend auf mich wirkten. So tritt Naboo wieder in Erscheinung und wird prompt zu einem Ferienparadies des Imperators ernannt. Auch der aus dem "Jedi Starfighter"-Spiel bekannte Pirat Nym feiert einen Gastauftritt und die gesamte Star-Wars-Truppe, angefangen von Han Solo, bis Luke Skywalker und Darth Vader ist in Nebenrollen mit von der Partie. Das schöne ist dass zur Abwechslung einmal die Nebendarsteller die Hauptrolle spielen und die allseits bekannten Protagonisten nur in kurzen Abschnitten vorkommen.
Jedem Hardcore-Star-Wars-Fan und Galaxies-Spieler kann ich dieses Buch empfehlen, normalen Fans und Lesern möchte ich vom Kauf abraten.
The Empire learns that a Rebel Holocron has been left on the planet Dantooine. The holocron contains a full list of all of the Rebel Alliance spies within the Empire. If it falls into the hands of the Empire it could effectively crush the ability of the Rebellion to operate. Everything would be compromised. The Empire sends one of their spies to recover the holocron. The Alliance sends Finn Darktrin to locate the holocron before the Empire finds it. An Empire biologist, Dusque Mistflier, somehow gets mixed up into the search for the holocron and assists Finn as Dusque becomes more and more disillusioned with the realities of the Empire.
This book just wasn't very interesting. The story itself is quite basic and followed a video game structure with missions and a boss battle. While the chance to explore Dantooine, and a post Prequel Trilogy Naboo was potentially interesting, the overall experience was weak and lacking. The one good thing here is that there is no need to have played the game to understand the story, but I can only hope that the game was better than this book. It was a nice effort, but the only reason to read this book is to read every Star Wars book published. That's about it.

If you are not a player or fan of SWG then skip this Star Wars entry as the characters are mostly cardboard and the plot pretty predictable. I will give kudos to the author(s) for having courage in the ending, however. Overall, I enjoyed it but wouldn't recommend it to a non SWG player
