The DK books are seriously cool and exceedingly browsable, making them solid items for libraries. First off this isnt a new edition of the Star Wars "Guide To" books. This is a very large scale, all-encompassing, up-to-date reference volume.
If you already have the "Guide To" books, Id question wether its worth you rushing out to buy this book. Its the kind of book that is really handy if you are just getting into the "rest" of the Star Wars universe, outside of the movies, and are a bit confused with characters, places or events that have happened elsewhere and in other times in SW history.
If you are a light-hearted SW movie fan and dont dabble in the SW books, comics and various other spin-offs, dont bother, get the "Guide To"s or the "Essential Guide To"s instead.

I have been a fan of Star Wars for many years, and upon hearing about the Star Wars: Encyclopedia, I knew I had to have it. I had it only a day, and was amazed at all it had in it. I give it two thumbs up. It's that good. If you are a die-hard Star Wars fan this is a must have! This book is in-depth and full of information about things that I didn't even know exsisted in the Star Wars universe. It includes extremely detailed information, about ships, droids, planets, and every character you can think of. This book will tell about a characters life history, even if he only had one small appearence in a limited edition comic book. To make a long review short. BUY THIS BOOK! IT'S UNBELIEVABLE! And buy it from Amazon.com, because they have the best price I've seen yet!

Have you ever wanted to know where the Glythe Sector is? Or wondered what a M3-D2 droid was for? If you have then I highly recommend the Star Wars Encyclopedia by Stephen J. Sansweet, because it is filled with all things Star Wars-from movies, novels, comics and TV shows, (Though I suspect I would have been happier if it had no mention of the Ewoks/Droids cartoons). This is a high-quality publications and is presented hard cover format, making it an ideal addition to anyone's Star Wars library. It allows the reader to see what wonderful consistency that has been built up over the past 22 years within the universe-something that Star Trek can never boast about given how everything in that universe is entirely variable. Clear, easy to read entries are laid out naturally in alphabetical format for easy location, and it would make an a great tool for role players as well, making it is easy to find characters, places, vehicles, etc.

Could've been better

An excellent resource book with only a few errors.

It was really good
It was very good! I found it to be very informative. It covered almost everything from the largest to the smallest detail. However, it left off a little information.
