From Booklist
The latest in the Star Wars book series finds Han Solo discovering that he has a rival--one Prince Isolder--for Princess Leia's hand and that the New Republic's VIPs and even Leia herself are seriously considering a match with the prince. What happens then involves taking what many will regard as considerable liberties with the characters of Leia and Han, though a good deal of lost ground is recovered once the action, of which there is plenty, shifts to the long-obscure planet of Dathomir. There the happy ending is worked out in a desperate battle with Force-capable witches both good and bad while Threepio contributes comedy as he tries to advance Han's suit without understanding much about human love. Wolverton is not as comfortable with the Star Wars universe as Timothy Zahn, but he manages to offer the mighty host of SW fans good entertainment. Roland Green

From Kirkus Reviews
If you thought Han Solo and Princess Leia were an item--not so fast. Leia has visited the planet Hapes to plead with the Queen Mother for weapons and ships; and now the Queen Mother's son, Prince Isolder, has sent his battle fleet to planet Coruscant, along with a mountain of hugely expensive gifts. Isolder, it seems, desires to marry Leia and join his forces with those of the New Republic in the continuing struggle against the Empire. Then Han wins planet Dathomir in a card game and persuades Leia to accompany him there. Luke suspects that Dathomir also harbors someone strong in the Force and discovers the Nightsisters who fought with Yoda's Jedi long ago. With firmer prose, more realistic dialogue, and more action than the previous Star Wars outing (Kathy Tyers's bestselling The Truce at Bakura--not reviewed), this should sell at least as well. From Library Journal
Still at war with the Empire, the fledgling New Republic receives an offer of alliance with the 63 worlds of the Hapes Consortium, provided that Princess Leia will marry its heir, Prince Isolder. As Gen. Han Solo and Isolder fight a cosmic battle for Leia's heart, the discovery of a conspiracy of dark-force wielders lures Luke, Han, Leia, and Isolder to a rendezvous with danger on the mysterious planet Dathomir. Wolverton ( On My Way to Paradise , LJ 12/89) is a vivid scene builder, capturing the cinematic flavor of the Star Wars universe while expanding on the outer reaches of the galaxy. Regrettably, his characterizations just miss the mark. There will probably be a demand for this title despite its shortcomings. Previewed in Prepub Alert, LJ 1/94.
