This first novel only kicks off the trilogy's story, so while there is some action, there's also much talking and scheming, and the overall plot is only beginning to become clear by the book's end. Curiously, since everyone is so wretchedly evil, there's really no hero to root for--a marked contrast to the usually quite romantic Star Wars tales. This explains, perhaps, why K.W. Jeter was chosen to author the trilogy. Jeter, once Philip K. Dick's protégé, tends to avoid anything upbeat or uplifting.
Tony Award nominee Anthony Heald doesn't just read the book, he performs it, using countless different voices. He's backed up by music and sound effects that make The Mandalorian Armor into a full-fledged audio drama. Fans of Star Wars fiction and Boba Fett in particular will be pleased with this further exploration of Lucas's rich universe. Newcomers, though, might want to start with something more traditional. --Brooks Peck -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

Avoid this trilogy like the Deathseed Plague,

Before I get down to the review, I want to issue a disclaimer. I respect Jeter's work in every other story of his I've read; he writes VERY well. If that were not the case, Lucasfilm Ltd. wouldn't have let him write this trilogy in the first place. Now for the review itself."The Bounty Hunter Wars" trilogy is, unfortunately, execrable. It's a blot on Jeter's otherwise exceptional career. I mean, forget that Boba Fett has already been set as an interstellar Clint Eastwood-type who rarely speaks and thinks he's upholding the law. Forget that Zuckuss is one of the most sucessful and respected bounty hunters -- who also uses Gand speech patterns and refers to himself in the third person. Forget that Bossk also ranks high in the profession and is about 54 years old, hardly a neophyte. Forget that there is more than one bounty hunter Guild; House Benelex Guild, House Tresario Guild, etc. etc. outlined in several volumes of source material which have come before. No, let's make Fett a loquacious, evil sonnuvagun, Zuckuss a whiny greenhorn who speaks like everyone else, Bossk a young idiot, and have only one guild of bounty hunters. Let's just ignore everything which has been written before. This series, which had SO much potential, was ruined by the apparent lack of research into already-published source material. I hate to cut down someone's work, especially when so much time has been put into it, but this trilogy is just plain disappointing. If you're not really a "Star Wars" fan just looking for a good read filled with duplicity and back-stabbing, then you'll probably like this book. If you're a die-hard "Star Wars" fan, however, you'd probably best save your money. Buy something ELSE Jeter has written. I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed. good, but not perfect,

Really, don't be so hard on K.W.Jeter, the autor of this book. This is really a good book. He does a good job of continuing Boba Fett's story after his slightly dull "death" in "The return of the Jedi". After blowing up the Sarlacc of Carkoon and crawling out of its gut, he is saved by a passing bounty hunter, Dengar. While Dengar and a mind-wiped dancing girl, Neelah, nurse him back to health, the story gets suplemented by flashbacks, which turn out to make up half of the book. These date back to the time of "A new hope", which is interesting, if you want to know what Boba has been doing all this time. Problem is, he gets caught in a complicated plot to destroy the Bounty Hunter Guild. A good story developes, with plenty of action. The only downside: Fett, on one hand keeps being portrayed as a cold, calculting superhuman, on the other, though, becomes a pawn in other people's political games and sometimes seems to be just as mortal as everyone else. All-in-all, a must-read for Baba Fett fans, who can understand a complex story that requires reading the sequels. Helfen Sie anderen Kunden bei der Suche nach den hilfreichsten Rezensionen

A plot with a lot of twists,

A lot of people didn't like this book, but I thought it was great! If you like Boba Fett, this is a must read! This plot has a lot of twists, and it's neat to see that even peolpe that are as good as Boba Fett run into trouble when they're outnumbered, (unlike Han Solo, etc.)
