Yeah, this book gave me new hope - not exactly "endgame", I alreday knew the ending, but the preview of the new novel "homecoming". See, I'm really a great Janeway/Chakotay fan (a J/Cler) and I couldn't believe Paramount marry Chakotay off to Seven!!!!! NO!!! But reading "homecoming"... I think I only have to cite this last few sentences: Slowly, they turned and walked back to the small ship. As they lifted off, Janeway turned to Chakotay and said, "I'm glad our destinies coincided, Chakotay. It was a privilege to have you at my side these past seven years."
He smiled. "And it was a privilege to serve with you, Captain." She laughed and held up a hand in protest. "Kathryn, I'm not your captain anymore."
"Ah", he joked, "you'll always be Captain to me."
Suddenly serious, she looked into his dark eyes. "I hope not," she said.

as a european resident i still haven't had a chance to see the tv-episode "endgame", so i decided i really needed to know what's going on and bought this book. Believe me, it's worth every penny!! i read a lot about voyager's homecoming, how illogical it was and so forth, but, reading this book, everything that happens just happens, because it had to. confusing? no kidding, it will give you the feeling, that everything turns out the way it was meant to be. The best part are the last chapters, which give us a look into the "afterlive" of the crew, i wouldn't miss that! ;o) regarding the difficulty of writing a book AFTER the episode aired, this one is just great: from the very first moment you are deep down in the storyline, nothing will distract you, believe me. i'm so happy i didn't wait till "endgame" aires in europe!

As a fan of voyager my feelings toward the "end" were of course mixed. i was eager to finally see the crew coming home but naturally sad to see it all come to an end. i have to agree with jutta on the reason for janeways return beeing a bit hollow at best as well as the final plot the 2 janeways came up with a bit foggy, also. but i liked the way it turned out for b'elana and tom, although i would have wished for a bit more of that. Altogether i'd say it was a rather predictable novel and i am much more intrigued by the preview of christie goldens "homecoming". but i guess there i'll see even less of my 2 favourit characters (tom & b'elana).
