5.0 von 5 Sternen Finally, a book that teaches a much-needed professional skill 12. November 2013
Von Eric Reiss - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Over the past decade, the number of professional conferences and meet-up groups has exploded. For organizers, the quality of the speakers is critical to the success of their event. But even though the business community recognizes that promoting their subject experts is an important brand-building activity, very few companies actually take the time to train people in the art of public speaking. Well, that's exactly what this book does.

Each of the nine chapters provides valuable lessons for beginners and seasoned speakers alike. The authors (both exceptional speakers in their own right), have also invited other speakers (myself included) to provide advice. But let me add, even though I contributed to this work, I have already learned half a dozen things that I will put to use the next time I'm on stage or at a podium.

Here's a quick rundown of the nine key topics:

- Brainstorming your big idea
- Writing your presentation proposal
- Writing your bio
- Structuring your presentation
- Creating your presentation
- Practicing your presentation
- Presentation tips and techniques
- Managing the audience
- Iterating your presentation

Perhaps most important of all, this book provides a key career-building opportunity to those who take the authors' advice to heart. Remember, internal presentations are also incredibly important professionally.

In short, this is an absolutely unique book that is guaranteed to become an industry classic.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Practical advice you can use today 5. Mai 2014
Von Matthew Grocki - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
So many business books are written in an idealized state, rarely offering concrete advice that you can use today.

I gave Speaker Camp 5 stars because it can help you as a speaker today. This book is as realistic as it is informative.

Writing proposals to speak at events is HARD. For so many years I criticized presenters on their abstract or presentation. Then I tried it myself. I wish I had this book 5 years ago to shepard me through those years.

Speaker Camp recognizes that there is not only one way to create a great proposal and offers numerous methods for laying out your talk - from meticulous spreadsheets to hen-scratch Post Its.

I enjoyed this book not only for its practical advice, but its welcoming tone. Russ Unger and Samantha Starmer are seasoned professionals and talented writers.
