If you're like me, you might struggle to "make small talk" with most people around you. Small talk always felt clumsy and awkward to me. I thought as a teenager I would get better at those little chats with people, but now that I'm an adult the awkwardness never left!

It does not have to be that way! I read the Social Skills Guide: Small Talk, and started putting things into practice over the last few days. I found I started to actually engage people more - among people I didn't know but also with friends and family! I feel more friendly and confident as well.

It's an easy read and you can start improving your small talks with people the same day! So awesome!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Oh my god, yes I can do it..... 20. August 2014

The book has been a life changer to me. Of course I thought I would not need to read such a book because I am more an introvert and I actually don't complain about it. I am not really into small talk. Or I should say I was not.

It really helped me to reverse a limiting belief about small talk. As described in the very first chapter, I am the tipical person to think that you loose time when doing small talks. The book opened my eyes and got me to understand that it is just an opener and actually trigger deeper conversation when you start "easy".

Now, I find myself engaging conversation in public transportation or at school while waiting for the kids. And amazingly, it's not just about weather or the latest news. I met very interesting persons and life seems so much easier and richer.

I can only recommend to give it a try.

Loved the Social Guide: Small Talk – You can do it, from Betty Bohm. Being on the shy side myself, is never easy for me to start a conversation and this book has given me some golden nuggets on developing this skill. The skill of small talk is a very important one and I know that most people are often uncomfortable and struggle making small talk in social settings. If you are looking to network and connect with great people for getting better business, careers and/or friends, you should really start learning some small talk skills and this is a great book for that.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Everyone needs this book! 31. August 2014

Small talk. We all do it, and we all want to do it well. It's been a couple years since I've read a book on this subject, but it's so important. I enjoy meeting people, but in order to make that meeting more than a handshake and a nice-to-meet-you, you NEED to learn the art of Small-Talk. Within this book I've found a great review of the subject written with a nice flow and I particularly enjoyed the section on what to do during the inevitable awkward moment!
