Fragt man nach ihrem musikalischen Einfluss, antworten DAY ELEVEN aus Tampere in Finnland "Grunge" - und meinen den Seattle-Grunge der frühen Neunziger. Natürlich ist seit 1991 ein bißchen Zeit vergangen und die fünf Jungs haben ihre Einflüsse zu einem völlig eigenem Sound verschmolzen, der das Beste aus der Energie des Punk, den Harmonien der dunklen Seite des Pop und einer fette Gitarren-Breitwand vereint. Die Elemente aus Tradition und Moderne sowie überraschende Einfälle kennzeichnen diesen sehr eigenen Sound. Und ganz wichtig: Dieser musikalische Frontalangriff wird von der entsprechenden Attitüde und Erfolgshunger begleitet!

Janne Aleksi Pajari, der Lead-Sänger und dritte Gitarrist der Band: "Wir lassen uns von allem beeinflussen, was wir hören, und wir beschränken uns auch nicht in dem, was an Ideen aus uns heraus sprudelt. Wir lassen den kreativen Prozess absichtlich so frei von Hintergedanken wie möglich, das ist der einzige Weg Musik zu machen, die originell und der Mühe wert ist! Man kann immer im Nachhinein abwägen, was man gerade für Krach geschaffen hat. Aber DAY ELEVEN bedeutet eben nicht Dinge zu sehr zu überdenken und übermäßig zu analysieren." Day Eleven are a 5 piece group from Tampere, Finland who combine an uncompromising attitude and hunger for success with a blend of tradition and new ideas to create a sound truly their own. This band with their roots planted in the '90s' grunge rock scene comes at you with a unique sound containing shades of the energy of punk rock, the harmony from the darker side of pop mixed with big, in-yourface blast of heavy guitars. "We try to take in everything we hear, and try to let out everything we can come up with", the lead singer Janne says. "We're keeping the creative process as carefree as possible, and that's the only way to come up with music that's original and worthwhile. You can always ponder afterwards what to do with the noise you create... it's not about over-thinking and over-analyzing", he says. "We're here just to make a mess and blow your minds..." The band started more than 10 years ago when the guys were enjoying their teenage years, but the actual year one for Day Eleven was 2003. A year of 250 days spent recording and studying the sound resulted in a partnership with the independent label GBfam Records Finland. ‘Almost Over Everything’ was recorded and mixed over various sessions from March 2004 to March 2005, and has so far been released in Australia, Ukraine and Belarus in addition to Finland. "Our first album is a diary of one hazy year; the beautiful wake-ups and the sour breakups... the ups and downs are all there. In our opinion it's a daring compilation of sounds and I think you can hear that we're not afraid to play it pretty if we feel so or scream our heads off in frustration when needed", the band states. Day Eleven have recently completed the recordings for their second album with producer Jens Bogren whose previous projects include the latest albums by Katatonia, Opeth and Disco Ensemble. Scheduled for September 2007 release, the new album shows the band going for a leaner, meaner sound. "We're consciuosly trying to strip away the things that get in the way of the songs themselves, not hiding behind a wall of sound but getting right in your face this time", the band says. "After playing dozens of live shows supporting the first record, we really learned what it means to be a real band, and I think we've found the essence of our music in the process. It's gonna be an honest, heavy rock album with a timeless twist."
