Reporter Gabe Thornton is not interested in romance or the crazies who advertise for love in the paper. But a lead in a robbery case takes him straight to Casey McIntyre’s door, and her Single and Searching ad, and now he must investigate her...
When Casey placed that personal ad to find a date, she never dreamed she’d find true love. But she also never expected her date to write about it!
Determined to get revenge, she dresses for seduction.
But payback is hell, and when Gabe turns the tables and pursues her with a vengeance, Casey finds herself falling in love.
Only Gabe holds her fate – and her heart – in his hands...
When the truth is revealed, will Casey be single and searching again, or will she succumb to the passion burning between them?

This book got me
- laughing out loud in public (many times)
- reflecting my own relationship
- checking my knowledge (could really a two years old glue a pig from pastas on the wall?)
- relaxing
- it got on my nerves (just how many more sites would she do this?)
- inspired me (good tips on creative projects with kids)
- made me feel that sweet romantic honey I love when I feel down.
This is rather long list for a good humorous romance. Of course not all things will always work that way in real life, but that - why not? I loved it and had a good time with this book. You will have yours too!

HASH(0x990ec384) von 5 Sternen Sometimes you have to wonder 4. August 2012

Do authors have large families who are assigned to put out 5-star reviews the minute a book is published? How are you supposed to find a decent read when you can't trust reviewers? For this review I'll let the author speak for herself; then you can decide if you want to go further.

At H & H's first date - lunch at a fancy Atlanta restaurant - he's got a hard on the whole time because he can't stop staring at her chest with its nipples like "pearled beads." Ooh how romantic! She tells him an erotic dream she had of him and an image of her "slender long red toenails" pops into his head. Now that's hot! She storms out on him but forgets her car keys, so what does she do? Shimmies under the car in the restaurant parking lot in her new black silk dress to get the spare key, of course, just in time for him to come out and look up her dress. She won't come out, so he crawls under there with her, where she's got grease on her face and she's crying, which makes his "gut clench." Aw, couldn't be sweeter, could it? Somehow, under the car, she manages to elbow him in the groin. What a laugh riot (though you gotta wonder where that darn spare key is)! He dangles the keys she'd forgotten in front of her and she snatches them from him (exactly how much room are they putting under BMW sportscars these days anyway?). They crawl out from under the car - no awkwardness there - he kisses her for about 4 pages (longer than any conversation they've had), and he knows something special is happening, but she's scared and hops in the car. As she drives off "a bolt of lightening struck the sky."

So, if you get this book, don't say you weren't warned.

I've read a number of Rita Herron's books and they always catch my up right from the start with the funny and embarrassing situations her characters find themselves in. Gabe is a reporter researching a piece on lonely hearts advertisements. Casey is one of the women whose ad's he has answered for research. But when he arrives to pick her up things don't go as planned--with hilarious consequences. Add a cute little boy, a big soppy dog and a blocked toilet and watch the fun begin. Another laugh out loud funny romantic comedy. Highly recommended.

Casey McIntyre is a young mother of a two year old, Henry S., who is fighting for her right to custody of the child from the kid's father, Travis Satterfield. Casey is also a bestselling author of some children's books.

Gabe Thornton is a reporter who has been chasing this story, The Alphabet Thief, who enters people's homes, steals their electronic wares and leaves behind one of those plastic magnetic alphabet letters that every home with a child has for the fridge, as a calling card, so to speak. As part of his job, he was running through the "Single and Searching" ads for another article, when he comes across the ad using every letter of the alphabet. He wondered if there was a correlation between the alphabet ad and the alphabet thief.

When he gets to her house for the date, he's an hour early due to the time change (he was on a business trip), she thinks by the way he's dressed that he must be the plumber that has come to fix her toilet (Henry S. flushed neon green condoms (balloons) down it), she has orange and purple koolaid in her hair (courtesy of Henry S.), and her house is in disarray with toys and art supplies everywhere. Gabe thinks a bomb must have gone off in her house because there is hardly a place to walk. This is hardly the kind of woman that he would seek out. While she is getting ready, he fixes her toilet, but slips away, standing her up.

The next morning she reads the article that he has written, slandering her good name because of his first impressions of her. She, and her house, were a mess, so therefore, she must be brainless and certainly not good dating material. When she realizes that the plumber had actually been her date that stood her up, she decides to get revenge. She decides to show him exactly what he would have missed if he had showed up for the date.

And, the plan works...well, maybe it works just a little too well...because there is sexual tension firing in all directions for both of them.

But what secrets is Casey holding back from Gabe? Does she have something to do with the alphabet thefts? Casey has quite the past, and she isn't sure if Gabe would be able to handle her few minor shortcomings from long ago. And, what of Henry S.' father? How does he figure into all of this? You'll have to get this one to find out.

I loved this book! The sexual tension was at its highest, and I couldn't help but root for Casey and for Gabe. Gabe is the hunky guy who doesn't just think of himself, but thinks of others...well, he does when he meets Casey. He's the kind of guy that any girl would be lucky to go out with. He understands Casey, even if she doesn't fit the profile of what he thought he considered the "perfect woman." Casey soon realizes that even though he may have gotten a wrong first impression of her, he appreciates those shortcomings and tries to make up for all the hurts that have happened to her in the past.

If you love romance, this is the book for you...with a sprinkling of humour mixed in, you can't go wrong.

5 stars!

HASH(0x990ec9b4) von 5 Sternen online dating, single parents and a mystery, oh my! 8. August 2012

Hmmm, where to begin? This book was hysterical! Some of the mental images will stick with me for a very long time: the 2 year old who greets the "plumber" carrying his teddy bear dressed in _______ with a _____ had me laughing out loud (I don't want to deprive you of the pleasure of reading it first-hand). Obviously, this author has had some experience with children and knows anything that can go wrong will (in very unpredictable and hilarious ways).

Casey is a single woman, a children's book author and adoptive mother. Her lifestyle is delightfully scattered and chaotic.

Gabe is a reporter, cynical by necessity, but good-hearted. At the urging of his editor, he agrees to write an article about on online dating service between his usual investigative articles.

Casey and Gabe get off to a rough start, but it's certainly entertaining! Trust is a big theme in this book as the main characters face some pretty big obstacles to trusting each other.

The criminal is telegraphed pretty well and there's another aspect of the story that wasn't entirely unexpected (no spoilers!). Overall, it was a delightfully fun read. I probably won't read it again simply because my to-read list is so long, but I will remember parts of this story for quite some time (I love it when a good story sticks in my memory for a while). I definitely recommend this book for a fun, light-hearted mystery romance.

If you like Jennifer Crusie, you will probably enjoy this book as well. It's well-written, well-paced and easy to read.

Sensuality: some sex, fairly descriptive

Honestly, some people just don't get romantic comedies. Yes, they're over the top and mostly unrealistic, but that's the point. Reality is often incredibly boring. It's why we read romantic comedies! I now have several books by Rita Herron, and have enjoyed all of them.
This one is a sweet, sexy, funny (I'm still laughing about the vegetables!) full length, contemporary romance, with a bit of a mystery.
Casey is a single mom, who decides to place a personal ad in an on-line dating service. She's a smart girl, but her life is a mess. Gabe is a reporter, who is writing an article about on-line dating, and trying to track down a thief. He too is a smart guy, but his life is also a mess. How these two people meet is a riot!
I recommend reading this book when you are in the mood for something light, quick, and lots of fun!
I also recommend from Rita, the "Bachelor Pact" series:
Marry Me, Maddie
Sleepless In Savannah
I Love Lucy
