As the oldest of four siblings, I can say quite honestly that now that I am an adult I am good friends with my brothers and sister. Even so, I truly wish that my parents had found this book when I was a kid. So much damage and hurt feelings could have been prevented! The techniques are presented in an easy-to-understand fashion and the cartoons illustrate examples that parents will recognize from real life. The chapter on dealing with your own wounds from the past was incredible. Perhaps the highest praise I can give this book is to say that before I read it, I was extremely scared to have a second child, but now I can approach that eventuality without fear.

I find that most parenting books just end up making a person feel guilty or like there is no way they can possibly do all the things the book suggests. In this book (although it certainly helps you to see how far you have to go!) I have found that putting the suggestions into practice is made so much easier. I still sometimes find myself saying something unrecommended, but I catch myself and step back. And then I start over again. Other people have even commented on things that I say to the children (that i got directly from this book!) and it makes me so proud! We are all trying to do the best we can with our children, and having two or more children can be so hard at times. How do you keep both children happy? When you have only one it seems a bit easier, and having two seems like such a good idea! Then when the second child comes along things are so different! I think large families are wonderful, but I also think this is the ideal manual. Every parent (and/or sibling) should read it!

Even though I was pretty aware of the latest parenting techniques, this book gave me new insights into handling sibling relationships such as the subtle ways that parents compare children without realizing it and the effects of children comparing each other. Read it once before the second child is born and again every few years!

I have never read such a practical book, full of every day examples and tips that not only make good sense - they work too!! Practice what these authors preach and watch your kids get along better! And in the process, you'll suddenly find answers to questions about your own childhood that you never dared to ask...

I checked this book out when I was pregnant with my second child and am buying it to use and to have as a reference. I forget things so I use it like a dictionary. I like the book for its detailed examples that really helped. I love this book!

I mean it. It really helped me do a better job with our three kids and also with my job. What's great are that it is really a few simple rules and some good exercises. A quick read and informative

I don't have children, but this book has helped in talking to children in general and even in dealing with other adults. The psychology behind Faber's method, although designed for children, holds true for many adult situations as well. I've bought copies of this book and some of her other titles for friends with children, and *every* recipient has immediately bought copies for everyone she or he knows. In a way, this book helped reduce some of the fear of becoming a mother, in charge of shaping a new person's life and character.

If you have more than one child and want to understand the rivalry and bickering and arguing - AND gain insight on useful, practical ways to improve your children's relationship with each other - then read this book. What makes this book so valuable is that the powerful ideas are presented in a very down-to-earth, easy-to-read format that you'll enjoy.

I loved this book! Siblings Without Rivalry is full of unconventional advice like "children don't need to be treated equally, they need to be treated uniquely." My friends constantly comment on how well my 3 kids get along. I give this book a lot of the direct credit. It gave me a whole new perspective on dealing with multiple children.

When I used the suggestions from this book on my own 2 kids, MIRACLES took place in our home. I don't claim that my children are squabble-free, but when conflicts arise, I use the techniques in this book to help them resolve their differences. We are all so grateful to the authors for the rewards!
