Shut Up [Explicit]

Ein "Best-Of" Album ihrer zwei Alben "LaFee" und "Jetzt Erst Recht" auf Englisch? WOW! LaFee zeigt auch hier, dass sie Talent hat! Hits wie "Prinzesschen", "Mitternacht", "Heul doch" aber auch ruhigeres wie "Wer bin ich" hören sich sowohl auf Deutsch, als auch auf Englisch toll an.

Tolle Frau, tolles Album! ;)

Das braucht die Welt! Ehrlichkeit! Warum rumdrucksen und rot werden? LaFee weiß, wie man es macht. Auf Englisch und auf Deutsch. Toll ist, dass sie ihren deutschen Hit "Heul doch" in Englisch "Shut Up" auch hier in Deutschland veröffentlicht hat. Hoffentlich macht sie das mit weiteren CD's auch, sollten noch weitere folgen.
Der Song ist das gleiche wie "Heul doch", aber faszinierend in Englisch anzuhören. Interessant, was man daraus in Englisch gemacht hat. Einfachstes Englisch, gut zu verstehen, rockiger Song. Cool! Anhören!

Ich bin ein kanadisches Mädchen. Deutsch ist meine dritte Sprache. Ich spreche Englisch und Französisch. Ich werde die Rezension auf Englisch schreiben, weil ich besser auf Englisch bin. Englisch ist meine Muttersprache.

First of all, I will list all the good things about this album:

1. I only hear a very faint German accent from LaFee. She must either be *really* good at singing English (Bill Kaulitz still has a noticeable German accent after all these years and he's lived in America for 3 years now,) or LaFee is bilingual. Either way, she sang with a near-perfect English accent so she must be pretty bilingual. I could understand everything she was singing.

2. I really liked Lonely Tears (translation from Der Regen Fällt,) and Tell Me Why (translation from Wer Bin Ich.) They are definitely the best translations. Midnight Strikes lost a lot of its haunting beauty, but it was okay, and On The First Night was also one of the better translations (it's a song most girls can identify with.)

3. She tried! English has no gender, grammatical cases, or adjective agreement, so it's not a difficult language to learn but I know the accent is completely different from the German one so I'm sure she didn't find it easy to sing as well as she did. I'm sure this album will appeal to her German fans who are not bilingual in English or good enough with English to know that the lyrics are kind of a disaster in most songs. I applaud LaFee for trying English. It's not like any English singers try German.

But here are the things that are wrong:

1. I'm not sure if LaFee did her own translations, or if someone did them for her, but either way they are NOT good. Scabies and Little Princess made me cringe. I liked them just fine in German but in English they sounded very weird. It wasn't incorrect English it was just very *bad* English and there was no need for her to swear so much. Set Me Free was also not a good translation of Lass Mich Frei, which I didn't like anyways but I found the lyrics to be pretty powerful. The English is all very basic (she uses "ain't" so much, which is English slang,) and quite cliché.

2. English is not her native language, so a lot of the beauty and the power of her lyrics were lost in the English translations. This did not happen at all with Tokio Hotel, so I know it could have gone better. Take Midnight Strikes, for example: it is one of the better songs on Shut Up and a translation for Mitternacht. But Mitternacht had such powerful lines that weren't in the English version: "Liebe, er spricht von Liebe. Seine Liebe ist in ihr," and "alle Engel schreien heut' Nacht." It was lyrics like that that made Mitternacht such a powerful song about child abuse, but that was all lost in Midnight Strikes. I really felt like Lonely Tears, Tell Me Why, and On The First Night were the only really good translations, although they were not quite as good as the originals.

Coming from an English native speaker, this album just isn't good. But I appreciate the effort and I really, really hope she translates some of her Frei songs into English because I adore "Ich Bin," "Fliegen Mit Mir," and "Sieh mich an"!

Those four, especially the first two, are the best English versions.
