A genealogical goldmine! Precious records of Jewish villages (or towns with a large percentage of Jews) and some of the individuals who lived in them comprise this well organized compilation. The author gleaned data carefully from cited sources. Names of some people in a community are noted whenever the source(s) provided such details. I found the name of my grandmother's cousin in her hometown! I especially appreciated the snapshots of real life scattered throughout the book, showing unique and sometimes funny events; a slice of shtetl life.
The records in this book are different from the Jewish genealogical data available from JewishGen.org, according to the JewishGen website, although both sources contain names of shtetls.
