The Newsboys encourage you to first BE the change that you want to see and others will naturally follow your lead.
Shine: Make Them Wonder What You've Got sports a glow-in-the-dark outside cover- while this is pretty cool, it has practical application. The cover, when exposed to light then taken into the darkness will Shine- but only for a short time. As Christians we can be a light in a dark world, but not by our own power. We can not shine forever unless we return to Christ, the source of our light, to be refreshed and renewed. Shine is full of thoughts, stories, and encouragement from the Newsboys that will help you be the light in the darkenss. The Challenge: Shine- Make Them Wonder What You've Got.

I was looking for an autobiography. . .

and I found this. It's not at all what I expected, it's more of a devotional book than a biograhy. It has great insight into the Christian life. There are stories, however of the band and how they have spiritually grown and matured. This book talks about how we can become more Christ-like and how to let Christ shine through us. It explains that we don't have to work at letting Jesus shine, all we have to do is ask Him to, and He will. It takes time though, so we shouldn't get impatient. While watching concert videos now, I have a totally different look at the band. Before, they were just guys up there having fun. Now they are guys that have struggled through life just like all of us have, and we can learn from their knowledge. They are also more of a role model for me now that I know for sure that they have the same beliefs that I do. I have totally enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like the Newsboy's music!

When I picked up a copy of "Shine", it was only because I am a devoted Newsboys fan. But as soon as I began to read the book, I was hooked! This is a fantastic book, it touches on every area of the Christian walk. It will encourage you, challenge you and hopefully, change you. Many books written by bands wind up being a bit of a promotional tool, this book, however, gives credit where credit is due- God! This is a great read for any young Christian, whether you are a Newsboys fan or not.
