Again we follow Sharpe through various adventures. If you have liked the books in the series up to now then you will like these stories just as much. Each book puts the Sharpe in a different set of difficulties. The variety is quite good. The background of each battle itself could get a bit monotonous for some. This does not bother me because I do not tire of hearing about the mechanics of battle numerous times (being ex-Army and a military historian.
Please not that there is a specific chronological order to the stories in the books, which is different than the order in which they were written, see (...) for details.

Es handelt sich um spannende, actionreiche Abenteuerromane. Gut finde ich, dass der Autor am Ende des Buches erläutert, welche Personen und Ereignisse erfunden sind und welche auf historischen Tatsachen beruhen. Zartbesaitete seien gewarnt: Cornwell schildert die Schlachten sehr detaillert, vor allem auch was Bajonette, Musketenkugeln, Säbel, Kanonenkugeln, etc. anrichten.
