War veteran Kennedy O’Brien is in the business of sticking it to the man—or at least any man who tries to cross a woman. After she returned home from Afghanistan and caught her husband in bed with the nanny, Kennedy lost her faith in men and started Fool Me Once Investigations with her two best friends. After all, there’s no better bounty hunter than a woman scorned.

When Kennedy takes a case to slap cuffs on a bail jumper turned dog-napper, she figures it’ll be an easy paycheck. But trouble has a way of finding Kennedy. Enter the last man on the planet she’d willingly choose as a partner: her cheating ex-husband’s best friend, Griffin Crawford.

As gorgeous as he is unwelcome, Griffin has always had a thing for Kennedy, and after keeping quiet about her ex’s cheating, he’ll do anything to earn back her trust. Whether or not she wants to admit it, Kennedy will need help as the case of the Chihuahua thief spirals out of control. Griffin may be just her man—in more ways than one.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Ellen Degeneres meets the Rock Chicks 2. März 2014
Von Gail H - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition
I love a good laugh, but I was not expecting to laugh so hard that I nearly wet my pants. This book was a delicious blend of humor, family ties, and strong female bonds. The closest description is Ellen Degeneres meets the Rock Chicks. By the end of the story, I had highlighted nearly 1/5th of the book, from the poor father wanting the Buffalo Wing dip to the "meat in your hair" scene. Thank you Ms. Sivic for giving your readers female characters that are as strong as the male characters, if not stronger, and yet remaining feminine. Thank you for writing a strong male character that doesn't attempt to control or dominate the female. For fans of the Rock Chick series, Shame On You is a must-read.

4.0 von 5 Sternen The best parts of Tara Sivec in one big anorexic book.... 25. Februar 2014
Von Tough Critic Book Reviews - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
I really didn't know what to expect with Shame on You. Hell, I never know what to expect; it's Tara Sivec. Her writing is so multifaceted that you never know what you're gonna get. When my book arrived in the mail, I was shocked. My book was anorexic! It was suppose to be a book, but...but....It needed to eat more words. Tara! Why didn't you feed it more words?? Is it possible that 139 pages could be enough? Is it enough? Was it enough?

Tara Sivec, you now have my permission to slap the cynical right off my face. Slap it hard!

Shame on You had all the best parts of Tara Sivec in one. It's like every single one of her writing personalities had one wild night together and produced this uniquely multidimensional novel? Novela? Mini-book? Book petit? Whatever you want to call it, it had everything-drama, suspense, sexual tension, the release of said tension, and of course humor. Grade A, Tara Sivec real hilarity. A touch of everything; combining to create a fast, entertaining, and fun experience.

I've noticed many readers are comparing this to the Stephanie Plum series. I for one, have absolutely no idea who this Stephanie Plum is. I know only what google is prepared to tell me, but it's moot. Tara Sivec's uniquitivity is her own and I can't imagine comparing it to anyone. Not even to a plum.

Tara Sivec did such a great job with this, my only complaint was that I didn't get more. The pace was almost too fast. I would have very much enjoyed this in a full length novel; selfishly wanting more time with the amazing plot and compilation of characters. I'm selfish like that. However, I will definitely be reading the next installment to the Fool Me Once series. Most definitely!

    READ ON!

2.0 von 5 Sternen Too short to get into plot nor characters - didn't like Kennedy 16. März 2014
Von Reading as much as I can - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Kennedy is a mother of two who started an investigation company with her friends. She served in Afghanistan so she is a bad a**. Griffin is an sexy ex-cop that has been assigned to work with her to catch someone who skipped on their bail. They have known each other since high school. So the get their HEA with no cliffhanger.

I really enjoy Tara Sivec's books, have read a ton of them.
This book I did not like.
Kennedy is a bad a**, but she seems to get herself in a lot of trouble where Griffin needs to bail her out, or she make dumb mistakes. She also does some annoying things like running away from Griffin without letting him explain himself about the past, shipping her kids off to her dead beat husband (she TEXTS him to tell him to keep them a few extra days). Doesn't sound like a very responsible mother.
She is in her mid-30s, but talks like she in her teens. She and her friends are a bit immature.
Griffin was almost forgettable. Since the book was so short, we are told that he always puts Kennedy and her kids first, but we just don't see it.

There is one mild sex scene - not sure it was needed in such a short book.
There were scenes (for humor) where the dad would say inane things, but I didn't find it funny. Typically I think this author is funny with her sassy characters - but I didn't find any of that in this book.

Too short, no depth, heroine a bit unlikeable and hero a bit forgettable.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Meet Mrs. Justin Bieber... 25. Februar 2014
Von Jamie Cleora - Veröffentlicht auf
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
First of all, if you've ever read anything by Tara Sivec, there's no need to read any further into this review. You know it is going to be amazing. Buy it. Read it. Love it.

Shame on You has a little bit of everything in it - drama, suspense, sexy times and then a whole lot of humor. Sivec's sense of humor is unrivaled, in my opinion. It's peppered throughout the book and made me chuckle out loud more than once. And can she write a hot love scene?!?! *fans self*

I loved the quirky characters. Kennedy was hilarious and pretty badass. Griffin was mouth wateringly HOT. Paige and Lorelei cracked me up as Kennedy's friends and business associates. And who could forget a chihuahua named Mrs. Justin Bieber?

The pacing was fantastic and I would have never guessed the ending in million years. And that rarely happens anymore. This book was fun and hilarious. I'm definitely looking forward to book #2!! I highly recommend this book!

This silly book is an insult to the many military women who have given so much to their country. The author seems to think that rather than doing their job military women spend their time ogling mens' backsides. Soldiers do not leave their weapons lying unattended on counters. Disappointed.
