A remarkable reimaging of the Rider Tarot

This beautifully illustrated tarot is the creation of Stephanie Pui-Mun Law. The imagery in these cards exudes an ethereal quality like no other tarot that I have ever seen. In spite of the superb imagery, this deck doesn't depart much from the Rider Tarot tradition.
These cards are bordered in gray; numbered and labeled at the bottom. The back of these cards is reversible, showing the classical depiction of a sun surrounded by an ornate ring which gives out an aura over a purple-black and starry space.
The Major Arcana are numbered with roman numerals. Labeled with the standard naming convention from the Rider Tarot, these cards certainly follow this tradition in a spectacular way. For example, The Tower shows a city, and within the city a tree stand taller than anything. At the top of the tree there is a tower being struck down by lighting.
However, I thought that the superb ethereal imagery could have inspired, and easily justified, a name change of a few of the Major Arcana. For example, Death shows a Phoenix like creature perching on a tree, while the Hierophant shows an Ent like creature sitting on the branch.
The suits on the Minor Arcana (swords, wands, cups and pentacles) corresponding element (air, fire, water and earth) are subtly integrated within the scenery of the cards. The court cards follow the standard naming convention of Page, Knight, Queen and King. My favorite cards from the court must be Knights, with the Knight of Swords riding a swan, the Knight of Wands riding a horned lion, the Knight of Cups riding an unicorn on high surf, and the Knight of Pentacles riding a earth Dragon.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this deck. This deck comes with a Little White Book.

Gorgeous cards, but small

The artwork on these cards are very beautiful. However, they seem too small to capture the complete beauty of the cards. It also comes with a book that tells a story behind each card, and gives each card a set atmosphere. You can tell the author poured her heart and soul into the creation of these cards, and they seem to just flow together.
I give it 4 stars, just for the lack of card size. The cards look amazing, but the size takes away from their glamorous luster. Either way, the deck is still great. I love doing readings with them, and even stare at each card from time to time. The artwork is so detailed that it can pull you in.

Beautiful deck, comes with booklet, not book

This is definitely one of the most beautiful tarot decks I've ever seen. I would definitely recommend it. However, it may be a good idea to buy the set that comes with the paperback and (so I've heard) a more durable box. My only two complaints are that I've only had this for a week and only took it out of the box (and put it back in) maybe six times and the corners of the box are already dying on me. My other complaint is that the little booklet that comes with the cards doesn't fully explain most of them, probably so that you buy the book.
The booklet does have instructions for the beginner on three spreads, which I enjoyed very much since I'd never seen any of them. Once again, there are faults with this item, but it's definitely worth the money. The cards are what really matter anyway, right?
