Self Drive Holidays: How to Drive in Namibia and Make the Most of Your Visit
Proven strategies for keeping travelers safe and off the side of the road

If you’re planning on driving in Namibia, this guide is essential for self drive holidays.

There are few experiences that match the delights and freedoms of a self drive tour. Exploring some of the most outstanding locations in southern Africa, you have complete control to move at your own leisurely pace.

Self drive safaris are one of the most cost-effective ways to safari in Namibia. Travel at your own pace with considerable customized flexibility. Choose the perfect vehicle that is tailored to your needs. Create an itinerary that fulfills your interests and places of accommodation that suite your budget. Whether your safari is geared toward wildlife, nature, culture, history, sightseeing, health, volunteering, adventure, or a slice of everything, self drive holidays can be tailored for all.

Although Namibia is one of the best countries in Africa to self drive, there are a number of vital points that must be taken into account to prevent unfortunate mishaps.

In this guide, Wild Safari Africa’s Managing Director lists the vital points in great detail to ensure you stay safe and off the side of the road. Here is what you will learn from this guide:

• How to choose between a 2x2, 2x4, and 4x4

• How to plan the perfect route according to your driving abilities

• Essential must know tips for driving on gravel roads and through mud, sand, rivers, and over rocks

• What kind of drivers license is required

• The 2 most critical factors to avoid in order to stay safe and off the side of the road

• The importance of car insurance and what insurance to get and what to avoid

• Namibia’s top 3 car rental companies

• How NOT to get scammed by car rental companies

• Namibia’s road conditions and how this can affect your self drive holiday.

• The exact maps to use and where to get them

• The regulations for crossing into neighboring countries and across borders

• Best practices for wildlife viewing and how to approach closely while staying safe

• The most popular self drive itineraries

• How to self drive Namibia on a tight budget without sacrificing the experience (in fact if you follow this method your experience is even better than the alternative)

• My personal secrets to keeping dust from getting into everything (This is my personal favorite and it’ll knock your socks off!)

• And much more!

Unlike East African destinations such as Kenya or Tanzania, countries where the self-drive is more difficult for the average traveler, Namibia is regarded as one of the safest destinations in Africa to travel, and arguably the safest in all of Africa in terms of a self drive safari destination.

Namibia’s infrastructure, road conditions, telecommunications, and power are similar to those in First World nations.

Self-drive safaris are the more economical option and exhilarating alternative for the more independent travelers to Africa. Sedans are more than appropriate for a variety of routes however, a 4×4 vehicle with fully-equipped vehicles (tents on the roof!) allow for the more remote and rugged corners of the country to be explored.

And if you can’t tell by now, Namibia’s popularity is about to explode! Join the others who have already explored this extraordinary desert nation and begin planning your self drive holiday today by purchasing this guide. You will instantly be transported to Namibia as I’ll provide you with everything you need to know to get your safari planning wheels turning. From where to go, the top wildlife destinations to best vehicle to hire, I will reveal it all! I wish you the best in your planning and welcome you to Namibia.

Cheers,
Jeremiah

If you have a desire to drive Namibia, Allen's book is the perfect read. Anything and everything about driving Namibia is included and is superior to any other guide on the subject. Planning for a driving experience abroad can be overwhelming and this guide has definitely settled my nerves. Nevertheless, the author covers everything as promised but I feel like there should have been more.
