Über den Autor
Lorne Peterson is one of the founding members of Industrial Light & Magic; he was hired by George Lucas to create the models for Star Wars. In 1978, Peterson was invited by Lucas to oversee the entire production of models for The Empire Strikes Back. His signature is evident on nearly every model used in the original trilogy. Peterson’s work is showcased in the entire Star Wars saga, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the Ewok movies, Jurassic Park, Men in Black, Galaxy Quest, and Van Helsing. He was honored with an Academy Award® and a BAFTA Award for the special effects work in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
George Lucas is the creator of the phenomenally successful Star Wars saga and Indiana Jones series. He has been writing and directing for more than twenty-five years.

Fans of Star Wars, particularly model collectors will love this book. This book is however not a book featuring collectibles. This is a compilation of hundreds of photos models of ships and sets that were used throughout the Star Wars movies.
There are four main chapters: 1. Starships, 2. Vehicles, 3. Creatures, droids and sculpts, 4. Environment.
The photos included are extremely high quality and many are close ups for details. The level of detail and workmanship is amazing when you're looking at it close up. I can also touch them.
Fans will find almost everything, from the Imperial Star Destroyer, Padme Amidala's Apartment, Holographic Chess Game, just to name a few.
If you've been to Star Wars exhibitions, you'll know that photography isn't allowed. Well, this book is the next best thing to the exhibition. Wait a minute -- so that's why photography isn't allowed.
This is a well constructed hard covered book with great binding and high quality semi gloss paper.

Sie fanden die Star Wars Chroniken toll und wollen mehr?
Sie sind Science Fiction Modellbauer und wollen als Referenzmaterial großformatige Fotos, die jedes Detail erkennen lassen?
Dann wird mit diesem Buch ein Traum wahr. Der vorliegende Band bietet eine Fülle exzellenter großformatiger Fotos von hervorragender Qualität. Die meisten Fotos sind extra für diesen Band angefertigt worden und noch nicht anderweitig veröffentlicht. Dass die Begleittexte nur englisch sind, ist von untergeordneter Bedeutung, da der Textanteil in diesem Buch relativ gering ist. Dennoch erfährt auch der Star Wars Fan der ersten Stunde noch gelegentlich Neues.
Eigentlich hat dieses Buch inhaltlich nur ein einziges Manko: Es ist viel zu kurz! Die Bilder sind so gut und informativ, dass man sich viel mehr davon wünscht. Leider deckt der Band auch nur eine Auswahl an Modellen ab, da die Abbildung jedes Raumschifftyps in den verwendeten Formaten den Rahmen dieses Buches gesprengt hätte. Eine Fortsetzung mit den noch fehlenden Modellen in der gleichen Qualität und Machart wäre mehr als wünschenswert.
Handwerklich ist anzumerken, dass Papier- und Druckqualität zwar ausgezeichnet sind, die Bindung aber etwas schwach dimensioniert ist. Das Buch hält zwar zusammen, aber die Bindefäden sind recht schnell lose geworden, so dass die Seitenbündel etwas schlackern.
Fazit: Der Käufer erhält trotz des geschilderten handwerklichen Wehrmutstropfens eine echte Perle für sein Geld, die von Anfang an begeistert. Ein Bildband, den man immer wieder gerne zur Hand nimmt und bei dem man auch beim fünfzigsten Mal noch neue Details entdeckt. Als Referenzmaterial für Star Wars Modellbauer unverzichtbar!

Eine wunderbare Doku des ILM - Modelshops. Habe mich fast so gefühlt, wie als ich 1992 dort war.
Leider geht es "nur" um Starwars. Dafür sind viele exzellente Fotos im Buch, etliche davon waren mir neu.
Imo sehr empfehlenswert.

Eine wunderbare Doku des ILM - Modelshops. Habe mich fast so gefühlt, wie als ich 1992 dort war.
Leider geht es "nur" um Starwars. Dafür sind viele exzellente Fotos im Buch, etliche davon waren mir neu.
