The Radio of my Sony CDX-L420VI stopped working suddenly, and therefore I was looking for another radio that matches the VW Golf 4 layout (red buttons, blue display, black matt finish). I did not want to spend too much money on a replacement radio, and decided to buy the Scott A2. The Scott more or less matches my car's dashboard with it's red buttons, but has a shiny black finish which is a strange choice since I've never seen a shiny black dashboard in a car. The Sony radio also had bigger buttons, which is a nice thing to have in a car stereo because you can find them more easy without looking at the radio.
During installation I found out that the A4 and A7 pin of the ISO connector needed to be swapped, so you might want to purchase also something like B0029W2NSY, or cut and swap the wires yourself, which I did.
The radio reception when driving is comparable to the Sony, and the sound appears to be even more clear and seems to clip less easy. Playing mp3's via an USB stick or SD card works fine. More over, after using the player a couple of weeks, I found it's much more convenient to play mp3's than "old fashioned" CD's. I prefer using an SD card by the way, because it does not stick outside of the radio. The Scott plays mp3's from sub-directories, and you can scroll through them by directory name. The product manual is in multiple languages and well written. Shipment was very rapid from Amazon.de.
Despite that, I found some issues that more or less confirmed to me it's a cheaper radio: the lock mechanism when sliding the radio into the dashboard is awkward, the VU meter distracts when driving, the detachable front is not so easy to attach again, the top row of the display can not be read when the radio is build in low, RDS messages on the display don't update well, and first 0.2 second or so of mp3's are not played. When taking the price of the radio into consideration, it's appearance, and comparing it with bigger brands, like JVC or Pioneer, which also have CD players, I'd rate it with 4 stars.
Conclusion: the basics of the radio are okay, although it would have had an excellent price - quality ratio when more care was taken into several aspects of the design. Cheap alternatives to consider: Clatronic AR817, and B003CMMFM4. If there's more budget, then it's recommended to check out the bigger brands, like the Pioneer DEH-1300MP, and JVC KD-R421 or 411.
