This beautifully illustrated book invites you to join a 72-page pictorial tour of the romantic Black Forest Mountains and the delightful towns and cities around it. The high-quality prints are complemented with informative texts by the Black Forest expert and travel writer Gerd Dörr. The wild, romantic mountains of the Black Forest extend from Karlsruhe in the north to the Swiss border in the south, the river valleys of the Rhine, Nagold and Neckar marking the western and eastern borders. Development reached the Black Forest relatively recently, so much of its original character has been preserved. The lives of its inhabitants are still moulded by tradition, in some of the valleys you still see them in traditional dress on special days and holidays. Clocks and artefacts of wood and glass are some of the products created by local craftsmen, continuing the traditions of generations of ancestors. All this is to be found in a picture-book landscape of dark forests, mountains and! valleys with romantic little towns and villages, rivers, streams, lakes and waterfalls.
