Carcasonne is one of the best board games I've played -- simple to learn, fairly quick to play, good for 2 or more people, a good mix of luck and strategy. We have the first two extensions, and bought this, only to be disappointed. Basically, a completely new way of grabbing whole cities (or fields, churches, streets) is introduced, which doesn't really have anything to do with normal game play. I found it fractured the focus of the game too much, and also made it more destructive (i.e. you focus more on what you can steal from others than what you can build for yourself). We played it a few times, but now it sits forgotten on the shelf. It just made the game less fun.
