As it says in the title, this book is about scenario-based training. Except, the scenarios don't work in X-Plane 10! (And, from what I'm reading, possibly even the latest versions of X-Plane 9!)
After searching around on Google, I found a website with a post by the author explaining that the he wrote the book not understanding that the scenarios wouldn't work.
I wish I'd known this before I bought!
The author, in his post, somewhat lamely suggests that readers recreate the scenarios on their own. If I had some experience with X-Plane, maybe this would be practical. But, I'm having enough difficulty just learning how to use X-Plane (I just got it), and the descriptions of the scenarios contained in the book are minimal, making them difficult to recreate.
What's really frustrating for me is that not only did I waste $22 on this book, but I also wasted a bunch of time trying to figure out why my copy of X-Plane kept crashing, even re-installing the game before I realized it was the scenarios. I think it's ridiculous that the author knows the scenarios don't work in X-Plane 10, but there is nothing posted here or at the publishers website--from where you download the game crashing scenarios.
If you are using Flight Simulator X, then maybe this is a book worth buying, but if you're an X-Plane user, save your money.
Now I just have to figure out if I can get my $22 back.
