I used to suffer from only slight but chronic insomnia, and when I got up in the mornings, I used to feel like I had been run over by a truck. I bought this book thinking that I've got nothing to lose except a few dollars. Yet after only a few days of following the expert advice contained in this book, my sleep improved "drastically", and I was finally able to function normally again during the day.
This book has all the information you need in order to develop a healthy sleep pattern that will inevitably improve the quality of your life if not save it. If you depend on sleeping pills or tranquilizers to sleep, this book will show you how to get off them and to stay off them for good.
Finally, I would recommend this book not only for the desperate insomniacs out there, but for EVERYONE, since it contains lots of useful and expert information that we ALL can use from time to time.

I have suffered with insomnia on and off for a long time and also studied it in some depth. This author is really an expert and dispenses a lot of new information that I had never seen before. There are a lot of helpful ideas presented here and I feel I have already received value many times the price of the book. If you have insomnia, buy it. If a friend or loved one suffers from insomnia, buy it for them.

I had occasional insomnia since few months since a shocking event happened in my life and triggered few nights of insomnia and depression. The depression passed, but afterwards although most of the time I was sleeping fine, it happened during vacations and weekends that I slept worse or not at all.

The bad thing was that not sleeping was something completely new to me and very scary and worrying. My doctor prescribed me sleeping pills, but I did not have them around whenever I had the problems..I was also scared of taking some pills that can impair your memory.

I finished reading this book approximately 3 weeks ago. The beginning was a bit annoying because it was just saying how good the book will be, but seeing how many people it helped, I just decided to Hang in there and read until the end.

I am happy that I read it. Because you can understand that not sleeping is not affecting your health, nobody ever died of insomnia or have long term damage to his health. It teaches you how to change your thinking about sleep, and how to not be worried about it, relaxation techniques, how to keep track of your sleep (although it might seem that it causes more stress tracking your sleep, you really need to do that by roughly approximating but get a mobile app for that), how to get rid of pills, and other techniques.

There were many good advices and techniques in the book that I did not follow, but just by reading it and not modifying much of my sleeping schedule, since 3 weeks and I am not so worried about my sleep anymore and as a result I sleep incredibly well.
I still have a chaotic sleeping schedule which is a bit different from one day to another, but even with this, I did not have any sleep problems in 3 weeks,and whenever I cannot sleep, I do not panic like before, I relax, I kill all the negative thoughts and fall asleep soon after.

Since early childhood, as long as I can remember, falling asleep has been a hassle, and usually took me at least one hour. My sleep was usually light, and I was very sensitive to noise.
This book has helped me improve my sleep in less than 2 weeks - I fall asleep within approx. 20-30 min and very rarely wake up, not even to go to the toilet, and that's a first!
I like the book's medical explanations and its pragmatic approach of the subject. It is easy to read and well structured.
Buying the book is money well spent! I can recommend this!

This book is the best book I have read on sleep. In particular it addresses long term chronic insomnia very well and provides a way to end this hellish nightmare. The treatment of sleeping pills is especially insightful. While reading, I found myself nodding my head in agreement constantly, realizing that here was a sleep professional who actually understood the problem so many people face in isolation. What a welcome relief from others who provide no solutions. I highly recommend this book.

I am the author of Desperately Seeking Snoozin' and also sponsor a very active insomnia discussion forum. Many of the people who post on the site have reported how much Dr. Jacob's book has helped them sleep better and recommend the book for other sufferers. My congratulations to Dr. Jacobs for his book and for the insomnia program that he runs. There are very few sleep clinics that offer a good insomnia program.
