Will she be able to save him from himself?

Grace finds herself wed to a man who loathes her. She is shunned and exiled to the farthest corner of the land. It wouldn't hurt so much if he hadn't once been her best friend.

Thomas became a duke long before he was ready. Now he can't go anywhere without women trying to entrap him into marriage. He expected better from his childhood friend.

How can friendship, let alone marriage, thrive in the face of bitterness, suspicion and misunderstanding?
What's to be done when the hurtful choices made in anger have lasting consequences?

It takes a special kind of person to see past the pain to the beauty that lies beyond…

Heather Gray is the author of the Ladies of Larkspur inspirational western romance series, including Mail Order Man, Just Dessert, and Redemption. She also writes the Regency Refuge series with titles His Saving Grace, Jackal, and the soon-to-be-released Queen. But that's not all! Interested in contemporary Christian romance? Take a look at Ten Million Reasons and Nowhere for Christmas.

Heather loves coffee, God, her family, and laughter - not necessarily in that order! She writes approachable and flawed characters who, through the highs and lows of life, find a way to love God, embrace each day, and laugh out loud right along with her. And, yeah, her books almost always have someone who's a coffee addict. Some things just can't be helped.

5.0 von 5 Sternen His Saving Grace 11. August 2013

I think this author is going to be one of my favorites. I have read two of her books now and have just fell in love with the characters and the story line of each.
In this book, His Saving Grace. Thomas, the Duke of Stafford, finds himself comforting a childhood friend, Grace, and in doing so puts himself and Grace in a compromising position. Due to the town busy body walking in on a simple comforting hug, they are to be wed immmediately. Thomas can't help but feel like he was set up and this was Grace's plan all along. He is furious but will hold up to his honor and marry her. He comes back three weeks later and that sweet childhood boy that Grace loved so much is all gone and replaced by a bitter goon. She is all but too kind to him and continues to pray that God will give her the strength to continue to respect her new husband. In doing so, Thomas realizes how wrong he has truly been. He soon has to go to war and in his absence she finds love for the towns people and friendship within her staff as well as purpose for herself.
This is one of those clean, historical romance books that makes you smile and feel so happy about reading. A true joy. Thank you, Heather Gray for another great read.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Good read and worth the time 16. August 2013

This was a well done regency romance.
The characters were fairly well developed for such a short book. The story was interesting. After reading the some of the reviews, however, I expected way more Christian references. To my surprise, there were very few. I guess some people are easily offended by any mention of spiritual conversations, despite the fact that Christianity played an extremely important role in the Regency era. The heroine was a little too sweet and forgiving for my taste, but I imagine that the years of instruction on being a demure Lady would result in many women becoming naturally docile and generous with grace.
My only complaint, and it is a mild one, is that the hero's change of heart could have been a little less abrupt and that we could have read about his experiences and thoughts while he was away with Wellington.
All in all, a sweet read, totally clean, and enjoyable.

Sweet is really the best word I can use to describe this book.

The Christianity references in it didn't really bother me because that was the time period, but anyone hoping for a lot of high drama and romance shouldn't look here. The description of the book seems a little misleading since the whole "she trapped me into marriage!" thing is resolved before we're more than halfway through the book.

It's a sweet story about two people who fall into a sweet love before Thomas has to go away on a mission for Wellington (which he volunteered for when he thought Grace had trapped him) and Grace sweetly goes about her business on his estate and makes the lives of the villagers better. Sweet sweet sweet. You could kind of choke on the sweetness. There's not a whole lot of conflict. Grace never seems to get mad at him for how he treats her. Like... I get that she understands why he's doing what he's doing, but that doesn't make it okay. He's pretty awful at first.

I def agree with the previous reviewer who said this was a book for younger girls; it's absolutely perfect for that. A simple read with a nice message. For 99 cents, it's okay.

I love historical romances. They are one of my favorite things to read. I don't care about hot and steamy sex scenes but I honestly did not feel any love between the characters. They felt more like brother and sister to me. The story felt disjointed and out of place. The heroine was crying, the hero comforted her. Someone catches them and suddenly they are forced to get married. The hero is angry beyond belief at the heroine and makes a lot of arrangements to punish her while he's gone. Yet he knows deep in his heart it's really not her fault and he secretly feels bad for it. What?

I wish I'd read more of the reviews before I'd bought the book. I know it was only 99 cents but it was also 1.5 hours of my day I could have gotten back and some space in my brain that I could have filled with another story.

    2.0 von 5 Sternen Hardly a Historical Regency 5. August 2013

The novella was a parable for "turn your other cheek no matter how hard struck" but totally unrealistic. The H drags the h off in anger thinking he is trapped into marriage and does not provide food or change of clothes. Suddenly he remembers they were childhood friends and how could he have misjudged her. Yes. Why not consider that to begin with. I can understand why the previous reviewer would recommend it for young girls. That would be the only age group I could see would enjoy it.
