28. Januar 2014 Snowpiercer
Snowpiercer is the enthralling and thought-provoking post-apocalyptic graphic novel that inspired the critically acclaimed movie starring Chris Evans (Captain America, Fantastic Four). Originally published in French, this marks the first time that Snowpiercer will be available in English.

In a harsh, uncompromisingly cold future where Earth has succumbed to treacherously low temperatures, the last remaining members of humanity travel on a train while the outside world remains encased in ice.

The surviving community are not without a social hierarchy; those that travel at the front of the train live in relative luxury whilst those unfortunate enough to be at the rear remain clustered like cattle in claustrophobic darkness. Yet, things are about to change aboard the train as passengers become disgruntled...

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Benjamin Legrand is the author of numerous thriller novels, screenplays, and comic scripts. As well as his own original works, he is well known as the French translator for the works of such authors as Tom Wolfe, Paul Cleave and Nelson DeMille. After Jacques Lob's death in 1990, Legrand continued the Snowpiercer series with a two-part sequel, collected by Titan in a single second volume.

Jacques Lob
, winner of the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême award, was a Franco-Belgian comic book author, best known for his Superdupont series. He began his career as an editorial cartoonist, before an editor suggested he focused on his writing, which bore rich fruit across a number of genres. He passed away in 1990.

Jean-Marc Rochette is a painter, illustrator and cartoonist. He has worked across a variety of projects and genres, from science fiction comics to children's cartoons - including adaptations of Voltaire's Candide and Homer's Odyssey - but Snowpiercer remains the work by which he is most popularly known.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Not like the movie 20. Juli 2014
Von M. Comer - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf
I watched the movie that came out in 2014 with the same title, and figured I would buy the book to learn some of the back story and answer some of the questions that I had watching the movie.

Warning: It's not the same story, at all. The only similarities is that it's a train going through snow, that has the last remnants of humanity. Similar to how "The Walking Dead" comic and TV show diverge.

However: It's a good story all on it's own, the last page mentions a volume 2, and I purchased that as well just to see how it would go.

3.0 von 5 Sternen "Snow Piercer" is good in premise 6. Juli 2014
Von Anthony Manno - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
"Snow Piercer" is good in premise, but not in payoff.

In a post-apocalyptic future, the "Snow Piercer" is a train that runs non-stop across the frozen planet. It carries what remains of human civilization, which is still divided by a class hierarchy.

In small flashbacks, we barely learn what led to the eternal winter and about a past revolt against the higher classes.

"Snow Piercer" tells of one lower class citizen's journey from the tail to the engine. The slow, psychological pacing provides some intrigue. But the conclusion leaves readers wanting more only because they know this is the first volume. It really is a prologue that could have been cut in half....

The art work is fantastic, a bit gratuitous at times. It is sometimes difficult to keep track of which order to read the frames. And the characters' dialogue bubbles are often connected--constantly having to reread things makes the story tedious.
2.0 von 5 Sternen Disappointingly Leaden 26. Juli 2014
Von M. Forrest - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I enjoy a post-apocalyptic tale and certainly had high hopes for this story which is set on board the Snow Piercer, an ever moving train, carrying the last remnants of humanity through a world of snow and ice. Unfortunately although the core idea is firm (if slightly ludicrous - as are most post apocalyptic ideas in all honesty), the execution is somewhat leaden with a desperate air of 'gravitas' imposed upon it. It reminded me in some respects of 2000Ad's Future Shocks which, if this had been produced for that series, would probably have been leaner, meaner and generally more enjoyable.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Can't wait for the film! 21. März 2014
Von Joan C. Cullinane - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe|Verifizierter Kauf
First of all, I live in Alaska and like all things cold and icy. It's also great to be a train buff or a post-apocalyptic lit fan. Very bleak, gritty, but human, even poetic. If this was a series on television I would watch it. It's like Downton Abbey but without the nice costumes. I wanted to see every car and meet all the people. I think I will be The Snow Piercer for Halloween!
