Format: Taschenbuch
All books written by Jerri Ledford I can highly recommend. She can write in such a way that you understand the most difficult technical stuff and she makes it fun to read due to her great sense of humor. It just makes you want to read more.

This book is perfect for people who know little to nothing about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It holds a lot of information but you can skip to the part that is interesting for you.

Great book! I highly recommend it!

I was looking for new insight ... unfortunately, this book is NOT the place to get it. This doesn't even go over all the basics .... it doesn't sufficiently cover simple topics such as site architecture, keyword density, keyword placement, unique content development, keyword selection, developing title and other meta tags, proper off-site optimization techniques such as link building, page rank ....

Not really sure what this book was about ... but it sure wasn't a 'bible' for SEO.

If you're really looking for a good book on Search Engine Optimization, this isn't it. Keep looking.

I was very dissapointed with this book. Much of what is said here can be easily found on the internet. Normally content being on the internet is fine but I was looking for a book I could read straight through rather than a collection of disjointed chapters on multiple topics. This book just didn't flow together. I never figured out what story was trying to be told by this book. I would skip this one and try another SEO book if you are a beginner.

I found it odd that a SEO Book had a chapter on Pay Per Click. Danny Sullivan has stated SEM = SEO + PPC. If this is the case they should have re-titled this as an SEM book or cut a few of the chapters. I was even more surprised to find a chapter on Maximizing PPC Strategies, it just wasn't necessary. I guess SEO and PPC overlap a great deal, but why here in an SEO book, let alone one called the SEO Bible? Combine the above with the Chapter on How Search Engines work it seemed to me like extra stuff I already know or didn't come here to learn.

The content that was focused on SEO was valuable but the disorganization of the book made it a bit more difficult to find than I was expecting.

The book covers concepts like SEO high level algorithm, Pay per click, robot, spiders, crawler, meta tags, etc. It gives the reader a ahead start on planning for SEO strategy to increase website traffic. However, this book is NOT for experienced implementers more so for readers entering into SEM/SEO. It does build a good base.

Key Points
1. Search engines look at Links, Anchors , Headers, Metadata tags , Image with Alt text (google images!), freshness of content, maturity of site to give rankings to web pages.
2. Use specific words to build website keyword density to attract high focused traffic for business;
3. Secondary Search Engines: They don't generate as much traffic as the primary search engines, but they are useful for regional and more narrowly focused searches. E.g.: Lycos, LookSmart, Miva, Ask.com, and Espotting.
4.Submit your web site to search engines manually, rather than waiting for them to pick up your site in the natural course of cataloging web sites
5. Keyword trackers: Checkout the following tools for selecting keywords to build website keyword density and rule out any forbidden/poison keywords- Overture Keyword Selector, Wordtracker, Trellian Keyword Discovery Tool , Google AdWords Keyword Tool
6. Use google analytics for free to keep a check on in bound links to your site to rule out any information manipulation. [...]

I had high hopes for this book since it is newly published in 2009, but it's just the same old stuff. In a nutshell, the book just tells us to forget about PHP and Flash and use static HTML if we want to achieve any measure of SEO. That just isn't going to cut it any more. A "Bible" on SEO these days needs to address the fact that website design has become dynamic and graphical. All I see here is that this new edition added alot of general common sense advice without adequately reflecting the major changes in how websites are created today.

This is a well explained review, both with an "executive overview" for those who just need to know a little, and with in depth ideas and instructions for those who need to actually understand and implement it.
Since everyone has an opinion on websites, I used this book as a primer for our executives, and am having everyone who edits the websites read it - there are plenty of opportunities to improve your SEO just by doing the basics right.
