A MUST HAVE 12. Januar 2011
Von T. C. - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
Before going on ANY type of trip, I always inform myself of exactely "where" it is that I'm going and what to expect. I like to travel off the beaten path, so this Rough Guide to Hawaii was a must-have! It's well written, covers all the Hawaiian Islands, and really does tell you about everything. I've used it for two trips now...one to Maui, the second one to Kauai, and both times it really, really helped me around the island I was on. I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to anywhere in Hawaii.

Comprehensive and well written 3. Oktober 2011

I have bought a number of the Rough Guide series and always been pleased with the amount of information and they ease of accessing it as well as their inclusion of some of the history of the locale. Hawaii has been equally as good as the rest.

overall, disappointed 16. Juni 2013
Von S. Roth - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I bought this guide book online without actually having looked into it in a bookstore. Past summer I used the Central American guidebook (to get away from another famous guide book series that virtually EVERYBODY) is using and was really happy with it. Not this time...
Oahu: I doubt the author has ever travelled by public transport. Yes, there are buses, but it takes time and effort to find out from where they leave, when they leave, where they go! At the bus stops you will just find the numbers and that's it!
If your plans are to rent a car and explore, you might be happy enough with the book. Otherwise, not recommended.
After four days I gave up and went to a bookshop and bought the aforementioned guide book that everybody else was using.

Like having a friends' advice. 30. Dezember 2012
Von J. Hill - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I have really enjoyed reading the Rough Guide to Hawaii. I feel it has alot to offer to people of moderate means who like to travel but can neither afford, nor choose to spend their hard-earned money on luxury accomodations, when what they really want, is to get out into the world and find out what there is to DO and see while on the islands. Previously, I bought the guide to Belize and liked it better than many of the other travel guides I had. The info was reliable, readable, and offered info on places to stay, eat, and visit that were safe while also being affordable. I felt as if it was written by someone I would enjoy knowing and learning from. JoAnn

THE BEST! 21. Mai 2009
Von True Review - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Rough Guide are the best travel books. They give a little history as well as details about where to stay, eat and travel for all price ranges - from the "on a budget" to the extravagant traveler. They also cover customs and are frank but humorous about it - like drinking, smoking, dress, what to expect - whatever! The only one that was not reliable at all was Rough Guide to the Dominican Republic. But otherwise, this and the 15 others I have used so far are fantastic, informative, cover everything for everyone's taste and whim in what they want to see, do, eat, drink, stay or learn and experience. Rough Guide is well worth every penny and a great way to get an idea of what you wanna do, when you go and the best time to do that. They even give you general info like weather, money, politics, health, visas and prices for everything. The best well rounded travel book ever!
