Laura adheres to gardening folklore while Rosemary likes to take a more scientific approach. Brought together in sinister circumstances, they soon discover that they share more than just a love of gardening. Whenever a crime has been committed they are united in the pursuit of justice. Rosemary and Thyme is different from many other television detective series in that it has two strong lead characters and features gardeners as detectives. Gardeners were chosen because they work quietely in the background and can often see and hear things which perhaps they sometimes shouldn't! It is filmed in some of Britain's most beautiful gardens. Contains the following six episodes: * And No Birds Sing A suspicious fatal car accident, poisonous plants and a strangely familiar housekeeper. Rosemary and Laura soon discover that they share more than just a love of gardening. * Arabica and the Early Spider The two gardeners are busy creating a wild garden at a pop star's house when they discover the bones of a racehorse and a young woman. * The Language of Flowers Restoring an ornate water garden cascade in the grounds of a health spa turns out to be a job riddled with danger and tragedy. * Sweet Angelica The two gardeners are dragged into a mystery from the past at a language school. First a Polish student vanishes, then the school handyman is murdered. * A Simple Plot Rosemary and Laura advise a blind professor on blight at his allotment and get involved in his fight to stop the land being sold to developers. * The Tree of Death While restoring a churchyard back to its former glory for a medieval fair, an ancient yew tree causes Laura to feel strangely edgy.

Finally a program that was built from scratch and not based on a book or writer. They can not do it wrong because this is it. Looks like there is more horticulture than in the Brother Cadfael series.

Two women, each have a Life changing experience just before the series starts. Soon they become friends. One a hands on gardener, with a law enforcement back ground Laura Thyme, (Pam Ferris), the other an academic horticulturist with an old four wheeler vehicle Rosemary Boxer (Felicity Kendal).

The programs are of the two trying to find out who dunnit and how. We do not get bogged down in love interests.

Each episode is unique in its approach. The only pattern I see is that it is like in the movie "A shot in the dark" where everyone is guilty except the maid. In this series there may not be a lit of murderers, however there are a lot of guilty people.

Well sit back and enjoy the view, smell the roses, and buy the series so you can watch again and again.

DVD ist nur mit Ländercode 1 (Amerika) abspielbar - und nicht wie man erwarten würde mit dem europäischen Code 2. Kein Vermerk in der Beschreibung und auch kein vermerk auf der DVD. Unmöglich!!!
