At over 67 years old, Ronnie Spector still has a voice as distintive as it was when she belted out "Be My Baby" with the Ronettes in 1963. At the end of that she put her mark on the greatest Christmas album of all time, "A Christmas Gift To You from Philles Records" (later renamed after its creator and Ronnie's future spouse, Phil Spector). The songs she sang there were Christmas standards given a new lease of life thanks to Spector's "Wall of Sound" (the only new song on the album went on to become a Christmas standard in its own right, Darlene Love's "Christmas - baby please come home"). This time round the standards have been avoided, and a brave attempt has been made to present five brand new Christmas songs. Alas to say, none of these look set to become classics. Still, Ronnie sings them as if they were the new "White Christmas", and breaths a little magic into them on the way, but this set is more or less one for the fans.
