Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
John Waters ist am bekanntesten aufgrund seiner frühen (Skandal-)Filme wie "Pink Flamingos" und "Multiple Maniacs" sowie später etwas gemässigtere Werke wie "Hairspray" und "Serial Mom". Der aus Baltimore stammende Künstler ist aber auch ein sehr guter Autor wie einige Werke wie "Crackpot" und "Shock Value" zeigen. In seinem neuen Werk "Role Models" sind zehn Artikel zu finden, welche zuerst in Zeitschriften oder Zeitungen erschienen sind und - meistens - auf Interviews mit mehr oder weniger bekannten Persönlichkeiten basieren. So geht es um den Sänger Johnny Mathis, Leslie van Houten (aus dem Manson-Clan, ein Thema welches John Waters schon sehr lange interessiert). um die japanische Designerin Rei Kawakubo und um zwei Männer die etwas eigenwillige sexuelle Fetische haben (Abfilmen von Marines bei Sie-können-sich-denken-was, sowie Psychos) und eine Begegnung der dritten Art mit Little Richard. Nach wie vor findet John Waters Menschen faszinierend die durch Besonderheiten auffallen oder aber von seltsamen Schicksalsschlägen positiver wie negativer Art "heimgesucht" wurden. So findet sich auch ein Artikel in dem Buch über eine alte Bekannte, die Stripperin ...... welche schon in "Crackwhore" vorkam. Bei Recherchen fand John Waters heraus das sie eine Tochter hat und er schaffte es ihre Adresse rauszufinden, sie zu besuchen und IHRE Version des Lebens ihrer Mutter in das aktuelle Buch zu bringen.
Es fällt auf das John Waters bei aller Begeisterung für etwas abseitige Themen des Glamours, des Showbiz und der dunklen Kehrseite sowie des American Undergrounds stets sehr höflich ist und die portraitierten Zeitgenossen nie mit Häme übergiesst oder ihnen zynisch kommt sondern ihre positiven Seiten herausstellt und eine...
