Rock This reads like a collection of Chris Rock's routines, and that's the book's only flaw. A little more of Rock himself would be nice--maybe something that's a cross between an autobiography and Rock's routine transcribed for print. That said, Rock This is a very funny book. The young comedian speaks his mind about a variety of topics: race, sex, drugs, O. J. Simpson, and relationships between men and women. Occasionally profane and wrong-headed, most of the time Rock's wry observations--his assessments of the Reverend Al Sharpton and the Reverend Jesse Jackson are dead-on--make you nod your head in acknowledgment of their truth, even as you shake with laughter.

When I purchased this book, I thought that it would be somewhat of a window into the life on Chris Rock and his comedy. When I read it, I realized that it is specifically his written work...word for word. If you have seen or heard his shows already, I do not suggest purchasing this book, for you will receive a repeat.

I knew when I finished this book that there were going to be a lot of angry people out there who weren't going to like what Chris Rock had to say. Personally, I loved every minute of reading this book. I thought that it was right on the money. Reality oftentimes isn't pretty which enhances the absurdity even more. Chris Rock points that out with ease. I laughed so hard that I honestly thought that I'd hurt myself. I bought copies to send to my sisters so that they can have a few laughs, too. I think that the bottom line is that we all must start opening our minds and looking beyond our own comfort zones to see what life is really like for lots of people we may never have contact with otherwise.

Chris Rock is Talented but I Would Never Put Him In The Same Category as Eddie Murphy,Richard Pryor,Redd Foxx or Rudy Ray Moore.I Enjoy Certain things He Says but after a While it's The Same thing Over&Over AGain.he uses the same Routine&WHen You Have Heard it Once you have Heard it a Thousand times.A Good Talent but A Bit OVERRATED.

Vintage Rock
This is a great book. It brings together material heard on all 3 of his CDs. Unlike other comedy performers, Rock's act holds up very well in paper form. Definitely read this one.
