In the Omnibus Rise of the Sith, you get 7 different Star Wars stories. Each of them revolve around the time right before Star Wars Episode I and involve the Sith and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan for the most part. The first part of the Omnibus is the collection of the two-issue series Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: The Aurorient Express. In this story, Qui and Obi are tasked with discovering the plot behind why a cruiser full of people is sinking to its doom and why the crew is oblivious to it. They soon discover there's more to it when there's armed droids and traitors present on the ship. The artwork is a bit cartoony but nice overall and the story isn't exactly gripping but decent enough to read.
The second series is the collection of the 3-issue series Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: Last Stand on Ord Mantell. This story involves the duo having to protect Baroness Omino but they soon learn that the savage Savrips have been sent to kill them and the plotter behind the Savrip attacks ends up being the very person they're sworn to protect! It's the same deal here with cartoony artwork and an ok story.
Next in the book is the one-shot Aurra's Song which tells the origins of the bounty hunter Aurra Sing; seen in The Phantom Menace for a mere 2 seconds or so. Going from a shy dancer to a trained killer taught by the Anzatis, she must use her cunning to get out of a bounty that has been placed on her head, and an old acquaintance that has come to collect! This story has better artwork and lots of beheading and violence but it's really short and could've easily been at least a 3-issue series.
The Jedi Council: Acts of War 4-issue series tells of the attacks made by the Yinchorri and how it's up to the Jedi Council, and Obi and Qui-Gon, to put a stop to them and discover the cause of the attacks. This story had good art and a good story highlighting Darth Sidious' first plots to throw the Jedi into disarray.
Next up is the first story arc in the Republic series; Prelude to the Rebellion. This story arc follows Ki-Adi-Mundi's origins before he shared a seat on the Jedi Council and how he dealt with an important family issue and at the same time, helped the council find out crucial information on the Trade Federation. Mundi's daughter Sylvn ran away with a bunch of pro-tech gangsters and Ki-Adi set out to rescue her and at the same time, find out how the Trade Federation is involved with smuggling banned technology to Cerea; Ki-Adi-Mundi's homeworld. It is his actions in this story that gets Ki-Adi referred to be on the Council. The art is fantastic and the story is nice and is a nice start to the Republic series.
Following the Prelude to the Rebellion story is the one-shot Vow of Justice showing Ki-Adi's time as a young Jedi trying to exact revenge on a man that has troubled his family for years. Ki soon learns that when you embrace the dark side, life has a way of exacting justice. Bin-Garda-Zon, the man raider leader is a leader no more and Ki must defeat the current raider leader in order to disperse the raiders and cease the attacks on his family and the other farmers. This story is nice but not needed but it's good to see more of Ki-Adi's origins.
Finally, the best and last story is the Darth Maul 4-issue collection. The Sith apprentice is tasked with ridding the universe of the leaders of the Black Sun organization so that they do not interfere with Sidious' plans. Darth succeeds in killing two of the vigos and forces the others to meet where he slaughters the rest of them and then kills the leader Alexi Garyn and his witch bodyguard Mighella. This story was really well done and the artwork was beautiful on every page and it really shows how Maul is a man of few words and a killer of many. It lets the viewers know just how merciless and ruthless Darth Maul can be when it comes to completing his mission.
Overall, this was a really well done Omnibus with all the story playing a part together in a way and a good introduction to the events that take place before Episode I. I highly recommend this Omnibus to anyone wanting to know more about Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Maul, Aurra Sing, or even Ki-Adi-Mundi because they're all featured here. The artwork is cartoony at times and some of the stories are sub-par but overall it's a good Omnibus.
