This book has been like a bible to me at times. There have times where I will just sit and read this book in one sitting. I went as far as laminating the cover of my paperback so I would not destroy the cover. It got worn down anyway :). I have just received a new copy from a friend. I will do my best not to wear this one out. This story truly touches your heart. The story of Cynthia Ann Parker is one of courage and then love and then devotion to the tribe that made her family and one of their own. A slice of history that is worth reading about because it scope is broader than just Cynthia's story. It is about the Comanches and their struggle not to be put into the reservations and it is about Texas. I hope that you give this story a chance. It is very inspiring.

' Ride the Wind ' is a superb book, whose author displays a warmth of sensitivy towards Quanah Parker's people, their rich culture, their way of life, which posterity has tended to nullify, indeed villify. Through Lucia St.Clair Robson's remarkable prose, it was not difficult for me to feel a part of their lives. I exulted with them over their joys; I felt saddened in their times of sorrow. An excellent experience, ' Ride the Wind ' was like a breath of fresh air sweeping over the plains, bringing together the earth, man and animals into a common heritage, each drawing on the other's strengths, capitalising on each other's weaknesses.

I was twelve when I first picked up Ride the Wind and read it in two days. The story of Naduah fascinated me and I could not put it down. When I finally finished the last page, I cried. The story is so touching and I felt as though I were Naduah. It showed both the struggles of the Indians and the whites. I think this book made me really understand the relationship the Comanches and Texans had. I know more than I could ever have hoped to learn about this Indian culture by reading Robson's book. Ride the Wind was the first real love story I ever read and I will always hold it as an example to any book I ever read. I have read this book countless times, going back again and again to my favorite parts. I would like to thank the author; who I have wanted to contact for a long time; for writing a wonderful work of historical fiction. And, as it might be obvious to some, my screen name is named after a character in the book.

Not Just For Fans of Indian History

excellent review
this is a classic in fiction --- depicts reallife with the cheyenne indians - you can almostfeel the words come to lifeon the pages.
