Kurzbeschreibung

22. Mai 2014 Rick Steves' Croatia & Slovenia
You can count on Rick Steves to tell you what you really need to know when traveling to Croatia and Slovenia. With this guide, you'll explore charming towns and undiscovered natural wonders. Stroll atop the walls that encircle romantic Dubrovnik, wander through the Roman ruins in the heart of bustling Split, and set sail to the islands of Korcula and Hvar on the glimmering Adriatic. Feel the spray from the waterfalls at Plitvice Lakes National Park. Drive mountain passes in Slovenia's idyllic Julian Alps. And take side-trips to Montenegro's dramatic Bay of Kotor and the Turkish-flavored city of Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Rick's candid, humorous advice will guide you to good-value hotels and restaurants. He'll help you plan where to go and what to see, depending on the length of your trip. You'll get up-to-date recommendations on what's worth your time and money. More than just reviews and directions, a Rick Steves guidebook is a tour guide in your pocket.

Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende

Rick Steves has spent 100 days every year since 1973 exploring Europe. Rick produces a public television series (Rick Steves' Europe), a public radio show (Travel with Rick Steves), and an app and podcast (Rick Steves Audio Europe); writes a bestselling series of guidebooks and a nationally syndicated newspaper column; organizes guided tours that take thousands of travelers to Europe annually; and offers an information-packed website (RickSteves.com). With the help of his hardworking staff of 80 at Europe Through the Back Door--in Edmonds, Washington, just north of Seattle--Rick's mission is to make European travel fun, affordable, and culturally broadening for Americans. Cameron Hewitt writes and edits guidebooks for Rick Steves' Europe. He first visited Budapest on a lark in 1999... and now he can't stay away. From Budapest's colorful and quirky history, to its grandiose architecture, to its mouthwatering food, to its uniquely enjoyable thermal baths, Cameron can't get enough of this enthralling, enigmatic, exhilarating city. When he's not on the road, Cameron lives in Seattle with his wife, Shawna.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Title should read more like "Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina with Slovenia" 4. Juli 2014
Von Dr. Sylvia Onusic, Your Public Health Advocate - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Don't look for anything out of the ordinary here. I was very disappointed in this book because I was looking for more than run-of-the-mill information on Slovenia The title is Croatia and Slovenia- nowhere does it indicate that many pages would be devoted to other countries. Of the 835 pages, many pages deal with just general tourist information; pages 40-397 are about Croatia; about 100 pages on Bosnia-Herzegovina...and 30 pages about Montenegro. Only 187 pages are allocated to Slovenia. The information that is provided on Slovenia applies to standard mass tourism. Although there are some few glimmers, like a small section on beekeeping. Maybe the section on Croatia is better. Had I scrutinized the contents before hand,I definitely would not have purchased this book. "Slovenia," of the Cardogan guides by James Stewart, although a bit dated ,is a much better resource.

I had bought two other guidebooks before I found out about this one. When we got to Croatia and started to use it, we abandoned the others, both in that country and in Slovenia as well. I recommend it highly.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Don't leave home without Rick Steves! 14. Juni 2014

We have always followed Rick Steves on TV and when we take European trips he is our favorite source for info for the way we like to travel. We like to make our own Itinerary, but use Ricks recommendations as a guide. For Croatia, this has been really GREAT and I don't think I could have done it without the tips and recommendations. I cannot wait to take the trip.

I downloaded on my Kindle so I would not have to carry a book. It is harder to read & find maps on Kindle version but I will take it on Kindle for convenience.

4.0 von 5 Sternen Handy book for Croatia and Slovenia 1. September 2014
Von Crashnburn - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
Not bad - as long as you go where Rick Steves wants you to go. You still need Lonely Planet or other broader guides if doing extensive travel in the region, especially eastern Croatia. But I found the book more useful than the others in the areas Mr. Steves covers - with far more opinions, recommendations, dismissals and truly useful tips. This was my first e version travel book - not that easy to flip back and forth, even if you bookmark. And the maps don't show up very well - most of the time I had to orient the tablet in the way the map would display in the largest format and usually have to look at it sideways - needs a little work - or better e book editing
